| Team NZH: Retired 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | finished my rc car body hey guys. i bought a new 1:8 offroad buggy at the end of last year and, hating the buggy bodies everyone uses i managed to find a place selling giant bodies to fit the 1:8 scale buggys to make em sorta look like cars got the ford focus wrc body (albeit a 1999 based model) but finally painted and fitted it some pics here whaddya think? i thought i fucked up the paint job but in the end it came out passableps: reasemblance to my real car's colour was totally by accident... i was trying to make it a dark gunmetal with silver flake but it came out like shown...

| Team NZH: Mod 11,000rpm (Spoon B16B!!) | Price really depends on what spec the chassis is, and weather its gas or electric. From what I remember, a place called "The RC Car Shop" or somehting like that in the Albany industrial estate has heaps of good second hand and new ones, and are pretty cheap. You could probably pick up an ok second hand set up with radio gear for uder $400 if you're lucky, but you could also spend a lot more... |

| Team NZH: Retired 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | the body is mounted on a 1:8 scale offroad buggy, shaft driven 4wd, and gas powered. gas is not regular petrol, but a 2stroke mix of oil/lubricants, and nitromethane. i got the chassis kit with all hopups (upgrade parts) but no motor, for about $690. then added a motor and exhaust for about $300. you can get RTR kits ("ready to run") which includes the controller, electric gear, motor, everything, from about $890 upwards, then depending on the brand you get. id have to say the kyosho inferno series are the best, mine is a cheaper asian copy model called Sinyih, its stronger in design but heavier and not as nimble. but more rugged since i crash every 13 secs. heres a pic of the buggy chassis (no motor) compared to my 1:8 rally car (which has shorter track/wheelbase thing, and smaller wheels etc) and heres a pic with the bodies on, as a comparison. i actually went to the first round of competition today out at a dirt track in pukekohe - 1:8 and 1:10 offroad RC racing... was good fun. managed to get thru to the finals before stripping my clutchbell - damn! but learnt heaps on the car/handling/setup/driving style etc... they are damn good fun i recommend them to everyone!!! ![]()

| Senior Member 4,000rpm (Taxi Drag) | FYI, I think "The RC car shop" is long gone, they used to sponsor me 1999-2000 racing seasons. There's some new 1/8th off road chassis out now. The "Sacker" buggy is quite popular up north and is available from Frankton models in Hamilton, possibly other shops in Orkland too(not sure). I'm having a break from racing as the past 14 years have made me so poor it's not funny. May get into 1/8th offroad if/when I get back into it as they are becoming more common here in Welly. |

| cool man! that paint job is sweeeeet! I know how hard that shit is. I've got a few planes, gas ones and they are sweet too. except they are made of bulsa wood so when you crash you don't repair them you just find where the motor and servo landed, pick them up then go home and buy a new body! ![]() |

| Senior Member 4,000rpm (Taxi Drag) | Go to www.nzrca.co.nz and click the relevant links. They should give you some details about the Auckland clubs. |

| Senior Member 4,000rpm (Taxi Drag) | Hmm, Nigel may disagree but "Hobby Direct" in Auckland is one of the bigger ones.www.hobbydirect.co.nz and "Frankton models" in Hamilton is another www.franktonmodels.co.nz If you contact Frankton models, ask for Nathan and enquire about the Hamilton RC car club. They race indoors at the Claudelands showgrounds regularly. It's a very strong club and there is often a lot of "pre loved" equipment for sale. |
