Scott Dixon - Indy Cars

As you should know Scott Dixon could be New Zealand's first ever Indy Car Series Champion tomorrow morning. He's signed up for Indy Cars again next year but there's a good chance of him getting into Formula 1 in 2005 if he wins the series. I hope he follows the footsteps of Bruce McLaren. I watched the interview on the programme 'Sunday' where Scott's team manager said he's as talented as Juan Pablo Montoya. How do you think he'll do tomorrow morning and will he become a Formula 1 great?

PS: I hope Kimi Raikkonen can win the Formula 1 tonight and well done to Greg Murphy and Rick Kelly and how could i forget Auckland winning the Ranfurly shield

Yeah it's fantastic for a kiwi to take such a prestigious title.

I heard he is hanging out for an offer with one of the major teams (Williams/Mclaren) as a test driver for a few seasons rather than opting to go with Minardi or Sauber. It would be great to see him with Mclaren.

Either way he is the man! 8)

Racing for BAR would be a waste of his talent. He will most likely drive for my team, McLaren, as there are strong Kiwi ties to the McLaren team and he has already tested with them.

Shooie isnt the best driver ever. Hes the best driving at the moment but people like Fango and Moss plus lots of others were just as dominant.

So what if hes got more titles

I agree it would be a waste to see him in a BAR, it would suck up his career just like it did to Villeneuve.

I wouldnt be surprised if you see him driving for Toyota in 2005 considering thats who his Indy contract is with. Which wouldnt be a bad career move as im still sure Toyota will keep increasing its F1 budget until it wins. Not good for the sport but is good for the drivers

Oh boo who paul
I dont like him (i was cheering for kimi) but i can admit and can respect what he has done!
However, If he was driving for jordan and they were using Honda Mugen engines he would be my #1 (theres something about yellow)
PS shooie won it for Ferrari, I strongly believe he could have done the same had he driven for other top teams - mclaren/williams/ever renault

Dont worry im not crying about it.

He is the reason Ferrari won both championships this year undoubtedly. Last year theres probably 1/2 a dozen drivers that could have won.

Rubens is an also ran. Hes not bad but he will never be the best. He makes Michael look better

I just heard on the news that Juan Pablo Montoya is moving to McLaren next year and will team up with Kimi Raikkonen. Wonder where David Coulthard will go

Yeah Dixon for F1!

The reason he's not leaping over to F1 is that he's waiting for the right offer (ie with a winning team/car/engine) - and with his record who can blame him?

I expect he'll be waiting to see if Toyota is going to be any good (unlikely), but mostly if McLaren is going to be able to improve (more likley).

And hey if he has to sit back and win Indy in the meantimes, I'm sure he won't be complaining...

PS Coultard is rumored to be likely to be going to Jaguar after McLaren, but I thought he was confirmed for McLaren next year (leaving the door open for Dixon in '05)?

If JPM is shifting to McLaren, this might blow my Dixon-McLaren theory... Hmmm?
