EJ's never came with D16A's..
they are D16Z6.

but the truth is a EJ1 has a 1600 Sohc vtec engine, which is a D16Z6
an NZ New LXI has a 1600 sohc non vtec which is D16A.

the EK shaped EJ's might have the D16Y8 in them not sure on this one.

oh by the way dont get a D16A get a D16Z6 or a D16Y8 more power

yeah my old motor in my EJ1 had D16A stamped on the block! an it was sohc vtec must off been a miss stamp/print! back on topic i think i know where theres one
