Wink Hey All! new honda owner Dunners

Hi guys

After years of owning unreliable Mitsi's (some bad experiences here!)
A few Toyota's ( still a fan at heart) still have a celica temporarily

I bought my first honda, a gorgeous BB1 Prelude in manual, H22a1
A freakin magical little car, sunroof, traction control, cruise control, 4WS
she is absolutely standard and well looked after, a very very attractive buy.

I know these appear to be the integras heavier cousin, but certainly goes well. Plenty of em around and a unique car inside and out.

I need some advice regarding the coating on the headlights, as it has degraded and appears to be cutting down the light considerably.. maybe some more gutsy bulbs could help out here too...

Hi there welcome to NZH! How bad are your headlights? Because if the plastic has just gone cloudy you could try using Meguiar's Plastix. I used some on my headlight and it shines them up pretty well.

Welcome

Getting higher wattage bulbs wont do anything. As above mentioned, some decent sanding/polishing or even hunt for a set of 2nd hand lenses. (New ones prob cost too much if you could fine them.

Re: Hey All! new honda owner Dunners

A friend lent me some Maguires Scratch X which Im guessing is the Plastix cousin.
Really fine, ever so slightly abrassive.

Got a thin rag and used a bit, gave it 3-4 goes per light, really cleared it up alot, might give it another go,

wish i had done before and after.

A worry or mine right now is fuel economy, versus my Celica, it seems to run thru alot more...

Rated to be 9.4 litres per 100km, I think thats optimistic

Re: Hey All! new honda owner Dunners

Hello and welcome to NZH,
Fuel economy is said to be pretty harsh in the H22A's, but I have a Euro R Accord with one in it. I get approx 100km's off approx 9.3 ltrs of fuel around town. (650 - 700km's open road off 50 ltrs)
I would recommend a plug change, an oil / filter change and be sure to run it on at least 95 (98 if its available) Octane fuel.
I have also noticed my fuel economy has improved after my recent round trip from Wellington to Whangarei. So maybe a few km's of "spirited" driving to clear out its throat so to speak.
