Re: go hondas

Search, its been covered so many times. Besides you'll need to give a few more options for us to come up with an awnser. How much power are you wanting? Forged or OEM internals? New parts or 2nd hand? ECU choice? What do you want out of the turbo?

Hey welcome to NZH, have a search around plus have a look at the build threads, that'll give you a good idea about cost.

Possibily, they might have something spare. Best bet is to tell them what you want and get them to buy the parts then build the engine. Unless your really clued up and can do it yourself.

For a decent forged setup on b serries, you'd be looking at around 6k+ depending on what the shop charges for labour and what ECU you want to run + how much dyno time it needs. It WON'T be cheep

You'll need forged pistons and rods, bolts etc. Injectors, a tuneable ECU, turbo (don't skimp on this, a shit turbo won't give you good results) oil return lines, intercooler + piping, bov, wastegate if the turbo isn't internally gated. Some sort of catch can setup if your looking at tracking it. HD clutch, possibly upgraded pressure plate too. PLUS all the parts to overhaul the engine like belts, gaskets etc.

Re: go hondas

I would look at building a B18C turbo. Would be better in long run. And get LSD box cas you never get power to ground in a single spinner. Even 2 wheels spin easy with 1.8 so will need good tyres and stuff too. Every so often there will be a full forged turbo engine on trademe. Just keep an eye out.

Re: go hondas

Its either Gen 1 or 2, check out the intake manifold and the size of the DOHC VTAX on the top

Re: go hondas

Look at your rocker cover, if DOHC is bigger than VTEC then you got a gen1, if VTEC is bigger than DOHC then you got a gen2.

Re: go hondas

Power and stuff. Gen 1 from old CRX and stuff. EG got Gen 2. This makes 119Kw. B18C is from 93 on Teg. This makes around 129Kw depending on model but way more torque. Probably best all round engine from that era.

By the way, what engine are you running at moment? Have you already got a B16A in your Civic?

Re: go hondas

Click on search, type in b18c swap and have a read through some threads - people on here don't like repeating info when its been discussed alot in the past.

But yes, b serries mounts are the same

Re: go hondas

Welcome to Nzh. If you are looking for the cheapest way to turbo a honda and not wanting to put time and ALOT of money into it.. buy one well known and that you know is reliable and already got turbo set up. You wont be dissapointed that way its more affordable in some ways.. if not.. from scratch on a vtec forged turbo motor project... thousands. Dont go for cheap parts too, they will fall apart. If you cant afford a Garrett or similar turbo.. talk to a Honda turbo specialist maybe RSL or someone like that or get hold of Steve Murch.. he built my turbo, a hybrid unit, which is not huge but its perfect for my set up, at a fraction the cost.
