Hi, new Honda owner going to try motorsport

Hi there,

I've just today bought a 1992 EG Civic VTi with the intention of stripping it out and doing some club level motorsport events and track days etc... This is my first Honda so I'm new to the car and the country - I've only been here a few months having arrived from the UK in May.

I've done a fair few track days before in the UK and a couple of the long distance 'banger rallies' across Europe where you take a knackered old car right across the Alps.

My last track day car was a Lotus Elise in the UK, so the Honda's going to be a bit different.

I'm based in Kapiti and work in Wellington.

Simon.

Re: Hi, new Honda owner going to try motorsport

Thanks for the replies I'll take some pics on the weekend, but basically it's a few shades of red at the moment needs a good clean and has aftermarket mag wheels on but other than that is standard from what I can see.

Re: Hi, new Honda owner going to try motorsport

Howdy ... go join a car club, and then hit www.motorsport.org.nz and get a clubsport licence

If you want to have a skid on Sunday, there's a Motorkhana (you'd call it an Autotest I think) in Porirua (top of Lyttelton Ave)

Bring a car, $20, and yourself. Don't need to join a club etc for your first two events.

Re: Hi, new Honda owner going to try motorsport

Hi there,

Sorry for the slow reply and no pics to date, been busy! I did the Todd Park motorkhana and came 13th, so first event with the car was 5 days after picking it up!

I've also been along to Kapiti Car Club this week, so club membership is getting sorted.

Got to get a NZ road license next - just need to do the theory test as I already have a UK license...
