Location: Auckland | CRX Hunting and Howdy All Howdy everybody I am a new user and currently driving a big thursty M535i Beemer, a very cool and fast car but it is now time to move on. I want to buy an unmolested or mildly tweaked CRX 1988 -1992 vintage preferably the 1.6 fuel injected version. There are a couple of 1989s on trademe, one in Napier and the other in Christchurch, has anyone had a look at them and are they any good? Alternatively if you know of anyone selling one please let me know. Cheers Jase |

Location: Auckland | Re: CRX Hunting and Howdy All Cheers for the info everyone. A couple more CRXs have appeared on trademe but appear to be in very sad condition The mechanic I use for my panzer is a trained Honda guy and recommended the 1.6 fuel injected over the 1.5 carb version, as he said the 1.5s can cause probs Any thoughts I took a 1.6 for a spin that was at ezy buy car auctions in Orcs but the car was a wreck, seriously pulling to the right, electrics faulty and full of rust I asked them to pay me to take it away, they were not amused ! |

| Senior Member 7,000rpm (Peak Power) | Re: CRX Hunting and Howdy All Good choice! They are great little cars, about 5 years ago i bought one as a beater to go to work in and got addicted bigtime and now it's my obsession. Forget anything with a 1.5, they are all carby and boring, get either a ZC powered 1.6i Si or a vtec b16a1 powered 1.6i SiR. The first is 130hp and quite torquey, the later is 150-160hp and rev out to nearly 8,000rpm but dont have the torque of the later. They are both fun to drive, the Si's ar ea bit more common and roughly half the price of the SiR but the SiR is more desirable because of it's engine. You will have noticed they had a facelift in 1990, most easily seen by the bonnet and tail lights, the pre-facelift has the little "power bulge" over the cambelt end of the engine, the facelift has the whole bonnet midsection raised and has a black rim around the tail lights. All SiR's are facelifted. If I were you I'd look for an SiR as they are much easier to modify as there is a lot of aftermarket parts available for the engine and they have bigger front brakes. I doubt your find a nice one for less than $4000 though as they are pretty rare and sought after. The Si is lighter and only 0.3secs slower down the 1/4mile (going by Hondas quoted performance specs) but has smaller brakes and no where near the amount of aftermarket support. They can still be made very potent though!! ![]() The main thing going for them is they are very cheap to maintain and cheap to buy. Good luck! |

Location: Auckland | Re: CRX Hunting and Howdy All Thanks again for the info, They are thin on the ground, maybe everyone is hiding them in garages or have they all been trashed and wrecked. I have found a 1992, which I am looking at in the morning relatively cheap, but you get what you pay for Cheers |
