Do we get D16y8's in NZ? And CAT convertor Q?

I am wondering as I want to get the intake manifold off of one.

Also wondering if I have the light on for my Catalytic convertor will it cause the car to run poorly? Not the CEL, but the light that is on the dash specifically for the CAT. I don't have a CAT anymore the sensor just isn't grounded I want to get rid of it if possible.

I followed the wire back in my loom in the weekend and it just goes to the back of the cluster, it seems to have nothing to do with the engine management at all so wont make any difference.
Just find the wire under you carpet on top of the tranny tunnel and tuck the bare end under one of the bolts holding you centre console in place so it earths on the frame. Light will disappear

y4's are he nz new ones. a bit hard to find sometimes. if u get a y4 and want a aftermarket clutch, dont forget u gotta use a jdm flywheel.

y4's are the same intake manifold as the y8 ones I think.
y4's are available in the 96-00 civic lxi, or gli models.

we do also have a sohc vtec model (96+) VTiS civic, which has the same intake manifold, but sports a y6/y8 motor? 1600 Sohc Vtec?

3-stage JDM D15b also has the y8 style manifold, engine's found in some VTi EK Civics.

Actually the y6's are the NZ new ones, I have one. And why not grab a skunk2 pro IM instead?

That's my $0.02.

Did some browsing, y4 is found in ek1's in aussie, 115whp, compared to the y6, found in NZDM ek Civics, pulls 127whp. This is the same engine as the y8 found in EX's from Japan and the US.

EK1's are a NZ New LXI model here. which is indeed the y4. they share the same intake manifold as the y8 motors though.

Yip the sohc type argh! manifold.

So I have to find a wrecked sohc vtec ek then? Don't want the skunk2 manifold unless its cheeeep as the gains for a boosted car would be minimal over the y8.

Must have had a conversion, the y7 is a non-vtec motor. Probably had a y8 or z6 head swap.
