Anyone make their own oil catch cans?

They seem to be an easy kinda of thing to make, so anyone else make their own?

Pictures would be good

Re: Anyone make their own oil catch cans?

Yea, thinking about making one, and was just wondering if anyone else had, to see what theirs looked like.

I work in light fabrication, so not a big deal at all to make really. And they seem pretty simple, closed cannister, with inlet/outlet. Just wondering how it makes the vapour condensate into the cannister? sponge? haha

Don't know if this counts... but this was my ghetto setup in the Alfa. Worked fine and passed scrutineering on millions of occasions.

Re: Anyone make their own oil catch cans?

If you are looking at entering any motorsport events with the car, make it at least 1L; it is part of MSNZ regulations. Also make an attatchment for a breater filter if NA, or just keep it closed for FI.

Re: Anyone make their own oil catch cans?

Hmm.. when you factor in time and materials, its cheaper to just buy one - can get a genuine Cusco catch can with a level indicator for $100 these days!

Re: Anyone make their own oil catch cans?

Does the catch can have to have a breather filter if the car is NA?

Re: Anyone make their own oil catch cans?

Good luck using a closed catch can on a boosted setup, or N.A
where is it going to vent?
no where because you don't have a breather.

Only time it should be closed is if you have one line from the crank case or PCV valve if using it in N.A.
Then other line to the intake manifold or another vacume source like the exhaust system.

this will vent your crank case.
Most people just use a BIG catch can with decent breather setup (usually little K&N filter isn't ENOUGH breathing for a big cc or big power motor)
