| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | Motor Descisions??? Cant quite decide what motor im going to put into my DA Had originally thought about a b18cR for ease of mounting but they are proving hard to find in decent condition i had also thought about going down the H2B route and swapping in a H22a altho i dont know much about them or this sort of swap Any ideas/comments welcome!

You can pick up a convention kit for $200USD that includes everything you need excluding Cambelt and tune. Cambelt just needs to be a b18c or b16b one and for tune you can just use VAFC with good resualts. Stock b16a cams work fine if you dont mill the head but then you only have 9.6CR but it still puts out the same power as a b18c with more tq. To build it better you will need to make the valve pockets bigger on the pistons, mill the head (cant remember how much) and throw in some decent cams. The rest you will be able to find on google easily. But this is just another option that shouldnt cost more then $1200. Also what iv heard is that h22a's get quite expensive to stick in DAs because the engine bay is 1mm to small so you need to bend out some bits with a crow bar to make it fit. So I vote stick with b series to keep it simple

Will be the same situation as John/BWDOWN is dealing with. Problem is that it is really hard on your drivetrain. I think I was looking at about 4 grand installed when I was looking into it. The blocks are cheap - around 450. But then it is advisable to balance the crank, etc... then there is the cost of new CVs and clutch. Installation including removing the B16, swapping and modifying the head, doing clutch, cv's, cambelt and random stuff was about 1500 I think. I'd still be most inclined to go the tried and true built B18C route.

![]() I'd say stick with a B18CR. Just remember any of the engines you're looking at are getting on a bit now so they'll probably all have something they'll need doing in terms of a freshen up.

Location: Wellington | Re: Motor Descisions??? B18cr, rebuild if need be, new rings, seals bearings cambelt etc. easy power with i/h/e h2b- if you wanna be different, also cheap easy power. b20b- just as easy as the b18cr to drop in besides the hydraulic part if u plan to use s80. Vtakyo- you make b20b's seem like absolute torque monsters, they do make more torque than your usual b16/18 but not talking gearbox eating v8 figures. i know of an ef and da here in Wellington running b20bs and they havent blown any gearboxs and get driven hard, flat shifting ,launching at drags etc etc, same with a mates b20b dc2....

i see nothing special about b20s these days, the da that has one in these ways wasnt very quick at all.. LOLOL at gearbox shredding torque, errr, NAH, not really a b18cr da would be mean, best bet IMO. arent da chassis lighter than dc chassis?
