Re: Spark Plugs

just get basic ones, they are fine. ive done testing on the dyno with HKS, platnium, iridium and all the rest of the BS. $4.50 ones from repco are just as good as $120 HKS ones.
you could run a stage hotter if you like to get a better burn, but be aware you might run a hotter engine temp

Re: Spark Plugs

Yup just get the cheap ones and make sure to gap them correctly and they work as good as any of the other ones.

Re: Spark Plugs

Pretty sure copper has a stronger spark but doesn't last as long as irids/ plats

Re: Spark Plugs

Iridiums and platinums just last longer. Doubt there is any difference in performance.

Re: Spark Plugs

dont need to gap spark plugs from repco/appco. thats what the 11 on the end is 1.1mm gap. allready set

hotter engine temp with hotter plugs? so if one thought his car was running rich and cooler than usual with no cooling system problems and decided to use a hotter plug.. the coolant would be hotter therefore telling the TW sensor to make the mixture leaner? and therefore fixing the problem.. or not

Re: Spark Plugs

choosing a hotter or colder plug, is really there gain max power and stop detonation.

If the plug is too hot for the cylinder pressure/temps it will start igniting the mixture before the spark fires. Thats why going to a colder plug sometimes can GAIN power. (no knock so no loss in power)

In a high comp N.A or turbo car, going COLDER usually nets better HP NOT hotter.
Of course if you are WAY to cold to start with then hotter could increase power.
If you have a wild setup then you really just need to read the plugs, but most find a 7 heat range in a track/thrashed N.A car is fine. Otherwise a 6 range for a stockish b16a/b18c
Some big N.A setup run 8's and have gained from this (timing tweaks i believe also)
