i fixed all my problems now.

water got into my first ecu and it would chuck error codes out at random. the laptop wont talk to it anymore either.

got a new ecu but another fault developed shortly after. think this was when you were at the drags with me and my car would cut out on launch. there was a broken wire on the back of the fuel relay plug. one of the terminals was just touching the wire enough when driving around but as soon as i launched the wire would move away and cut power. managed to find it driving late at night. my mate noticed a small spark coming off the fuel relay but only visible because it was so dark inside the car. was brilliant luck.

now that my problems are sorted ive done probably 50 runs at the track and drove all the way to chch for the south island champs and all is sweet. except i got a flat tyre and lost to one of these k24 monsters that are getting built!!

two thumbs up for hondat dat daaaaatttt data! <my old one cutting out.

Re: JTUNE - K20+K24 Engine build for Test Rabbit EP3

engine n car is up and runnin
done more then just putting the engine in

the new brake and sus upgrade costed abit so need abit of time to reload and then i can shotgun few more parts

now is just waitin for the header exhaust ecu and then tune it

as it is running lean plus with cat and stock exhaust
it was on the dyno making 158kw ish . . .hopefully abit more once is tune, not enough fuel . . . .

ill take some pic of the car when the kit is fitted and all the bits and pieces is on

Good to hear that this is finally running well done, I can't wait to see some photos of it.

Good to see another K24 in NZ.

You just need my quads now, (so I can get bigger ones, ).

Re: JTUNE - K20+K24 Engine build for Test Rabbit EP3

well
went up north today to check something out and also gave the car a power run
Think i needed a Hondata K Pro Asap , coz its running pretty lean after 50% throttle it doesnt knock but still its not right, as u see where it leans out the torque just drops

Havent taken pic of the complete car coz is still not up to standard yet hahaha

This is wats inside
K24A2
K20A TypeR head
ERL oil pump upgrade
RBC Intake
K20A 4-2-1 Headers
Cat
Stock Exhaust
Short ram air intake
K20A EP3 stock Ecu
Stock Throttle 64mm !!!!!! tiny b18cR std is 67 !!!!!
Vtec at 6k

Even without tuning is making over 100k Before Vtec
Also the TB isnt flowing enough air and the exhaust side of things are just too small

anyway heres the dyno run print out

Jacky when you ask about K-pro could you please have a look if there is anybody who can put it into a CL7? They don't have the harness and the ECU is a pain to tab into with the immobiliser system.

Re: JTUNE - K20+K24 Engine build for Test Rabbit EP3

my ecu is already here in nz, just need to get it send up north and get it installed . . . .

if u pay enough, anything is possible
u just need to run two computer and need some plugs to wire it up which might be hard to find

might go to the wrecker and get a crv loom for the ecu plugs and repin it for the k20ecu

is cheap to buy a CL9 and a k24 to start playing around, but then ... getting a Ecu for it might be abit harder

You can wak a AEM Or a M8 into it and that wil tune it piggy back with IVtec or piggy bak with HKS Fcon end up the same price running hondata anyway for a CL7 or CL9

Or run Other ECu piggy bak with Stock Ecu n adjustable cam gears and loose ivtec

heaps of ways to it

Wow you so need and exhaust and headers ASAP.

Quote:
Stock Throttle 64mm !!!!!! tiny b18cR std is 67 !!!!!
ITR butterfly is 62mm stock

man thats so LEAN everywhere!!!!! look at the lean spike on vtec, is progressivly gets richer, interestingly peak power is where the AFR is perfect.
Around 13:1

Re: JTUNE - K20+K24 Engine build for Test Rabbit EP3

yea took me ages to find a way to make it peak to 162 lol !!!

it was 158 last week

sorry i meant 67mm b4 the plate
k series ones are tiny

not going to drive it until is tuned now hahahaha

btw

it was dyno in 4th gear
i forgot to change it to 4th after running another car that was on the dyno b4 that
so its easier to show the mixture at every rpm zone

new 08 Release k24a Accord claims 147kw? and the CL9 claims 140kw? Engine power . . . hmmmmm might get one and throw it on the dyno and have some base figure

anyone in Auckland area with a manual CL9 wanna have a cheap power run?
or ill just borrrow one somewhere and do some testing. . .

Re: JTUNE - K20+K24 Engine build for Test Rabbit EP3

Its going to be much quicker soon

Can ITR ones fit K series?
My ITR TB is bored to 65.5mm at the TB and 70mm at the mouth
maybe bore the TB?

maybe port the intake mani to match the bigger TB also?

Yes I heard about running two ECUs + K-pro ( KPro on JDM EuroR CL7 [Archive] - K20A.org .:. The K Series Source . Honda / Acura K20a k24a Engine Forum). A bit too complicated to me.

And want to keep the i-vtec system so anything that kills it is out of my option.

Re: JTUNE - K20+K24 Engine build for Test Rabbit EP3

after ringin around and follow up few things

Think our target is to get as much power as we can before 7800rpm that will be the rev limit

In general JDM K20a it will peak around 8300 . Vtec can start early as 3500rpm

Headers has be design, havent been made, also will be running a full 3.5 inch exhaust

Going to try and make the engine run out or the power on as early as possible

Around 5000rpm, we ll be targeting for roughly 135kw

was there a reason behind the size of the 3.5 inch exhaust? as in why not bigger/smaller for this setup..

awesome build man read it through afew times now!
