As far as i see it, regardless if the orfice was there or not, they are the ones assembling it and they need to make sure everything is there... It's there creditability on the line and they should be double (even tripple) checking everything to make sure it's 100%... I remember talking to BigAl on here once and i know when he builds motors he assembles them, then re-assembles them to double check everything is perfect. When your building an engine with parts spinning at 9000rpm, everything has to be spot on. And they should know that. Meh, just my thoughts... Hope there is a happy ending to this Drama... |

Motor is an ITR motor with skimmed head, thinner gasket, blox HSL cams (and those STUPID blox cam gears that have all the timing marks lasered in the wrong place!) Received the car for me to retune it, checked timing and WAAAA, way way to advanced even with dizzy fully retarded. Sounding like a pushrod motor with a wild cam ![]() Anyway, for now I have retarded the intake cam -8 to get the dizzy in a sensible position for 16 degrees timing. Car runs a bit better, but still madly out of adjustment. (almost like its a tooth out on the intake cam to start with?) Doesn't help too much with those blox cam gears being made wrong. Off to speedfactor soon so they can chuck a dial wheel on it, otherwise I am just totally guessing. (and don't want to be as I dunno how far I can go) Im supposed to be the tuner anyway, so gave up getting my hands dirty after 5-6 hours on the thing! ![]() Im about 90% the cam timing and valve clearance needs to be redone then she will be all go. (provided the motor is ok) When you skim a head you need to ADVANCE the cam gears to compensate for it, HOWEVER on this motor the intake needs to come back -10 at least to get the timing correct. So I think its tooth out, or cam timing is really wack! |

Location: Auckland | Re: integra NA build thanks hontegra. Whole thing has turned into a big mess simply because the engine rebuilders refused to take responsibilty when a million things were found wrong with the motor in assembling but especially cleaning. but after going back and forth with doing tests etc the reason has been found, which is little ball bearings were foud in the oil pump which stuffed it. These tiny little ball bearings are from the shotpeening of the connecting rods of course, and for there to be shotpeening left in the motor, because those bastards didnt clean the rods before putting them in, is shocking practice and they shouldnt be an engine reconditioners. Furthermore, when they heard from Honda Pukekohe that there was some type of substance/residue in the motor that had stuffed it, they immediately tried to pin it on "glass beading" from the head i supplied, meaning "its my fault", even though if that were true and there was glass beading, they would still have the responsibility to clean it out as they completely assembled the motor. however not a single trace of glass fucking beading was found in the motor. DRURY ENGINE RECONDITIONERS LTD - BEWARE! Cause has been found though (shotpeening) and i will be re-embersed for my loss from insurance hopefully or if not then small clamis, but i will which is great, and i can pay back the money i borrowed for the new motor! Huge thanks to Sam/Coupe-R for his genourisity to take the car in and spend those hours on it trying to get it running correctly. Just need to wait 1-2 weeks til speedfactor can take a look. fingers crossed that the motor is healthy. Last edited by vtir.dc2; 16th September 2008 at 02:27 PM. |

So im pretty convinced its cam timing, after they have been dialed in and clearances checked i will tune it for you freddie. Can do a dyno for you also around $120 |

Its been in Sam's care since its been down there, Sams generoulsy spent much of his time on it. Hes got it running way better (dizzy timing) and swapped this and that, parts ive been sending down. Car is close to finished though which is awesome. photo Sam sent me: ![]() So the new motor may not be quite as up to spec as the old one, but should go more than well enough. Is a stock B18CR, but is sitting in higher compression because of buddyclub headgasket and skimmed head (about 11.8-12 area). Has also got my blox HSL cams in it now too along with the blox retainers and springs and cam gears. Motor came with a spoon sump baffle which is fricken choice. and running the straight through exhaust with the hytechs. and the addition of a simota pipe and urethane filter (shot Adam). any estimates on power? and a teaser ![]() ![]() |

You never know, some ITR's get 135kw, some 143kw or thereabouts. Depends on so many things, (also even how far forward the car is setup on the rollers ![]() |

So you cant use that one above too judge?? |

| Senior Member 5,000rpm (VTEC Power!) | Re: integra NA build - Progress - 23/9 Absolutely, but all dyno's will read differently as well. But what's stock 125 wkw? I don't know, but would IHE net as much as 10kw? Possibly But on the other hand, after doing all that work, and getting a 20kw gain seem reasonable? Seems like an awful amount of money/effort/time just for a 10kw gain! Anyway it was merely for reference, will be interesting to see how you got on after all the shitty drama! |

| Senior Member 5,000rpm (VTEC Power!) | Re: integra NA build - Progress - 23/9 Ah that's cool, I've been looking for the specs. In between doing deals at work of course... Erm I'm confused Blox HSL Intake 255@1mm lift 12.4mm Exhaust 256@1mm 12.6mm Pro1's Intake 264@1mm lift 12.6mm Exhaust 264@1mm 11.9mm? So the skunk's have longer duration, slightly less lift, and are the less aggressive cam?
