dont just replace the muffler and take out cat,buy a nice cannon muffler from extreme performance, then go to m's racing and get 2 1/4 mandrel bends exhaust with no cat but put in two resonators for good sound&performance, then go back to extreme performance and buy an under drive pulley kit(said to be the best mod for honda)get that fitted at m's racing, and while your at extreme performance buy a fuel pressure regulator

you find more torque, fuel wont lean out when you rev high, and you have good top end power

the exhaust system is one of the MOST BASIC mods.
if you aint going to do that properly, whats the point in doing more mods? dont take short cuts.
its hard to gain N/A hp i can think of a few things you can do to get a bit more power, but the basic mods (IHE) would probably give you the best "Bang for buck".

get a Full exhaust system for your ITR, then think about other mods. (extractors)
go get yourself a nice muffler, take it to a performance shop to get a 2 1/4 system made.

the word budget and Type R don't belong in the same sentence....
ITR's are really well tuned from factory, budget short cut mods aint going to give you jack power

and with not giving you jack all increase in power, it can in some cases, give you less than what you started with;

Since his question been answered.. im gonna jack the thread

Since u know bout ITRs..

Heres my story..
I hate loud exhausts. ESPECIALLY on Hondas Much prefer the boobaaa, but neway, would it be worth doing intake (of course) and maybe getting some better headers (i know ITR ones are good but there are better) might even go for 98 spec ones for "value for money".
Would doing that without full exhaust be worth the hassle?

The only other basic mod id do will be My VAFC2 and a dyno tune.

I'd say the intake and VAFC would be a good idea, and you'd probably gain a bit from the upgraded header without a full exhaust. If you dont want a noisy exhaust then dont put a straight-thru N1 style muffler on it.

Oh right, is it at all possible to have a 2 1/2 or 2 1/4" exhaust for the performance increase, and not have it loud at all? (well like fuking hugely rediculous loud)
I saw a Mugen Muffler.. had funky bends and shit, the pipe went in, came out the other end, then looped round and back through the muffler again.
This for quietness and performance, or what??

the mugen muffler flows almost as good as straight thru style mufflers.

the "loop" in the muffler just means the sounds travels through the muffler twice = less noise.
