can anyone tell me wether a adj cam gear on a 1.6zc motor on the intake cam will do alot and wether its enough gain to spend the money on, or wats a more productive mod i could do

car is a 88 si ef-3 with a zc motor, with a racing muffler at the end but standard system has a cold air intake and box with a pod filter...

thankyou in advance

I would have to say it would be a waste. For the expense of the gear and tuning time you could buy something better like stainless extractors, maybe a better idea if you have aftermarket cams.

Well I have to agree you'd be better of spending $450 on a set of headers than $700 on cam gears.. get better gains..

Well I ran 14.8 in my ZC Si CRX in street trim. But I ran 14.9 with full interior on a stock motor with an Intake pipe an pod filter, Cheap headers, 2" exhaust with one muffler and one resonator, and a chipped ECU. I ran 14.7 strpped on the same stock motor..
I also then did Cams, cam gears, Computer, etc but didnt dyno tune it and ran 14.6 down the 1/4.. would have run faster if I had tuned it..

my Si crx ran 15.2 with the seats out, pod and 2 1/4" exhaust with 2 resonators and a rps style muff. General condition of it wasn't that flash but on the day it was fastest out of the other ZC engines. I would expect that to be pretty typical unless you put more into it like non vtecs
