ha, rain was the least of the worries! More like racing in the swamp!
The decision to postpone the day was a safety call by Julian of Motorsport Manawatu - and a very just one as well IMO.
Manfeild can be pretty scary when there is that much water around (we are talking very deep puddles in critical areas of the track!)... I did a race meeting last year in these conditions - the race was red flagged when 2 cars aqua planned into the wall on the front straight... (these were race cars with cages, full safety gear etc...). I guess Julian/Mag & Turbo would rather not take the risk of someone writing their road car off at a "fun" trackday, or even worse hurting themselves in the process....

yeah i heard it was pretty bad, anyway i would rather race in the dry rather than the wet, better times!!

I've seen a few people aquaplane into the walls on the front straight and it's not pretty... was definitely the best call on the day, the drainage at Manfeild has never been the best...

Add to that, the infield getting destroyed by wayward cars, and it'd be a slow day anyway.

Roll on the 16th

Re: Mag an Turbo Open Day - Manfield 29th june

well ya cant please everyone

If you guys want to "race" why not join an MSNZ car club, get a log book, get a race license and do something like the Intermarque sprints which are held each month (from May to December) at Manfeild... this is probably the best value, closest thing to actual racing you will get ($60ish for).

If you dont want to do the motorkhana stuff then come at lunchtime and you can just do the afternoon sessions.... I am sure you will get enough track time from 1-4:30
