Southern NI Roady - 31st May @ 10am

DATE CONFIRMED!

31st May

well after checking mikes thread for the roady he has planned im blatantly ripping off the idea

i have a plan for a sweet day long roady, taking in some nice backroads, somewhere remote but scenic for a picnic lunch and plenty of opportunities for photo stops.

it WILL be a tank of gas plus and WILL be an all day mission.

timeline is end of next month so plenty of time to get gas money together and sort cars out.

hands up if your keen

EDIT #1:

well ive worked out a basic route and plan:

1: meet in Featherston in the AM, everyone can gas up/feed up and make sure everyones on the same page for the day
2: nice sedate cruise to Martinborough, through town and a nice back road to Gladstone
3: regroup @ the Gladstone pub, 10min stretch and a few pics before heading off around some nice scenic back roads
4: Riversdale beach for a feed and a slash
5: back to Masterton for gas
6: Eketahuna for a stretch/puke and to let everyone catch up with the group
7: over the Track, quick regroup at the turnoff to Palmy, then up thru Ashurst and up to the windfarm lookout up the Saddle Road for photos and our picnic lunch
8: down the other side of the Saddle Road into Woodville, gas for those who need it and back onto Palmy for the end of the day

Im thinking maybe a bbq/drinks @ a palmy members house for fun n games to end the night would be a good plan, if one of the guys wants to open their doors that would be great, otherwise we can all meet @ the railway station for dirty car pics/shit talk/drug deal action and head our seperate ways

im going to recce the wairarapa backroads on the coming weekend to make sure all is in order and suitable

any comments/suggestions/negative shit please spill it now, as id like possibly my final welly meet to be a fucking good effort!

/discuss

EDIT #2

Time to meet @ Featherston Mobil: 10am

distances:
Featherston - Masterton = 165km
Masterton - Palmy = 130km
total: 300km give or take

Ive done the recce and we will be flagging the back road from Tinui to Eke as its a shit gravel road and wont be fun with lowered cars

I might bring a large suitcase so I can hide Niger if I come across him. Al Savadore doesn't sound pleasant. I'm knee.

Truly though art a sage of the NZHondas philosophy, so, well yes. Brilliant idea.

The last time I drove some of those backroads was nearly 40 years ago so they've probably changed a bit. Like, not dirt. It be like going home again.

Bring it on.

Keen for frashing.

Anyone wanna passenger, I'm not toooo bad at driving.

Um, otp's at mine are ok also.

Also, instead of heading to Aokautere, it's way way way way more fun to turn off before the P-Track and shoot down Ballance Valley Rd and end up at the exit of the gorge. I know you miss the P-Track and the Gorge out, but Ballance Valley is way quieter, way more challenging, and the surface is pretty good. There's a couple of decent dips/bumps which will see the lower cars sparking, but I can lead if you want, and will slow up at the points that are needed too...

^ If you put in that sort of effort you'd get dibs on the spare bed/or the meanest couch in history.

true, but i figured it'd be easier (and cheaper) for people to come down for one weekend, than try to organise another meet around the same time

otherwise gokarting's gonna get put off for another month...
