Torneo AMP install?

How would I go about installing an amp in my Torneo? I just bought it and it came with a good headunit that has pre-outs etc.
I need to get wiring to the boot, I assume I will have to remove the rear seat, how does that come off?
And also how do you get the dash part around the speedo/console off, my headunit and aircon are inside that one.

Thanks

Re: Torneo AMP install?

(from memory)
to remove/get to the headunit you need to take off the dash surround.
3 bolts infront of speedo, and a few behind ash tray, which just pulls out. then it should pop off. should give you access to the metal brace that the headunit and A/C are attached to.

the rear seat is bolted where the middle seat harness disappears between the top an bottom part. and at each end. a bit of a pain to find and unscrew. the top part then slides up and out.

Re: Torneo AMP install?

3 bolts above speedos.

BUT where your sunroof, alarm light, fog light switches are on the right of the steering wheel you'll need to pop that middle button out (mine is alarm led) and through there you will see another screw you need to undo, then you just pry the thing out.

Re: Torneo AMP install?

you don't need to pull out the whole back seat just pull out the bottom and push the wires through

Re: Torneo AMP install?

To confirm.

- There is 3 screws above the speedo/tacho cluster (Stubby screwdriver will come in handy)
- Behind the middle switch/blocker to the right of the steering wheel there is another screw. (Dont drop it off the end of screwdriver, it may be very hard to find again.)
- There is clips around the headunit, carefully pry these out.

Then, there is 4 screws holding the stereo and heater unit into the dash board. Remove those and this will allow you to pull the unit out to get in behind.

REAR SEATS:

You will have to look between where the bottom part and the top part of the seat meet. There could be a couple of 10mm bolts you need to undo.

The bottom one should then be easily unclipped from the front edge.

You will then be able to see two more 10mm bolts, one each side, close to the doors. Remove those and you can then lift the top part of the rear seat away off the mounts.

My reccomendations:

Run the power wire down the drivers side of car coming through the firewall via the rubber gromet that is under the dash to the upper right side of accelerator pedal. (Or behind the brake/clutch resivours when looking from the engine bay.

Run you accessory and RCA wires under the centre console. Be careful that they do not interfere with the handbrake.

Send me a PM if you have any problems.

Re: Torneo AMP install?

I would offer you the disc manual for $5 (shipping fee) only just as i did some of the other guys here but I'm not in the country right now. Try asking jared nicely, i think i sent him one.

Really handy. It's for the ATR but close enough for the AER/TER for you to be able to tear car apart and put it back together again and not have left over screws and bolts.

I did it, just have to get a decent set of front components and a better sub. already blown the voice coil in the rockford P1 10" (rated 150 Watts RMS)

Re: Torneo AMP install?

is your sub in the boot? if so, you might want to unblock those speaker holes, as you'll get a lot more bass into the cabin

Re: Torneo AMP install?

Sub is in the boot, didnt notice much difference in spl when i covered the speaker holes. I can open the centre console in the middle of rear seats and the sub is facing into the seats which makes it sound a bit louder. Im goin for sound quality so spl is not that important to me.

Nice work you've done with your car just wondering why you have blocked off these speakers? Are you using door speakers in the rear or none at all?

Re: Torneo AMP install?

yip, but you should also try to get as much airflow from the boot to the cabin as well
although you guys have nice soft back seats for the bass to travel through, not an 80L fuel tank and sound deadening like me
