Audio Gear Ripp Offs

Howdy all,
As I am an audio nutter and I see a lot of good people being tucked into Knockoff, rippoff, and generally over stated car audio gear, I would like you to check this out.........
I LOVE Focal gear.
I LOVE DLS gear.
These quality brands as others have strict sales policies worldwide..
We have all seen the Knockoff factories working overtime in China on the news recently and there appears to be a huge influx of these `quality` branded products being offered on the internet out off the States for a fantastic price.
Both DLS and Focal Do Not Sell Through Internet Sales......Company Policy.
Neither do they sell internationally as they have retailers in every country to do this for them.
The DLS copies are old models and use a yellow cone.....
The Focal copies are one series K2Power and have a single serial number on every pair.
There are reasons for buying from the NZ distributor of any quality branded product.....they are legitimate products and you get the right advice every time.
I have invested thousands of dollars into audio and have learnt the hard way to buy right the first time from a reputable local supplier..you may pay a little more but that is nothing compared to a failure in a product that could end up burning down your ride......

This is not scare mongering but clear and fact based information that you should at least read>>>

Enough whinging for now....Enjoy your sounds....ThundaChild

^ Very good point. If the deal is too good to be true, maybe it isn't!

Re: Audio Gear Ripp Offs

I would take a guess and say they mean purchasing through the websites via credit card payments, that sort of thing. But, they are still able to advertise the gear online.

You can still send Pauls Audio on here a PM about DLS gear and arrange a payment through them with something like online banking. Just the same is if you've bought off FBI.

Re: Audio Gear Ripp Offs

I should be more accurate regarding the sales over the nett thing.....
The recommended retailers in each country can sell through there sites in there country but there is no legitamate Ebay style or Trademe style retail sales.
The wholesaler and retailers in NZ are sweet as but buying online from the states and countries other than the one you are in leave you open for all sorts.

I have some DLS gear already and it is ohh so nice and CRXBOB and fr3ek will tell you how good the gear is but you pay for what you get as per usual and buying from the retailer in NZ is only looking after yourself......

The local retailer will often look after you anyway and give you the best advice for your ride...not try and sell you a copy or the item they have most of on there shelf.

On this topic, I've noticed Damien doesn't have the NZ retailers listed on his site.

Re: Audio Gear Ripp Offs

Its not even as easy as looking at DLS and other boutique gear....
There are Sony and Alpine and Kenwood rippoffs everywhere you look now.
Car audio is a vague field as it is, without help you could end up with a 1400 watt amp that has less power than a mouses fart just because the figures are easy to tweak and you have no way of sorting it till its wired up and blows ya sub or components that cost you $3-$400 and then `it` shorts and all you get is `I Told You So~.
I hate seeing people gettin tucked...

Re: Audio Gear Ripp Offs

Pauls Audio are technically a sponsor, and a great one of that... so if anyone has any DLS or Focal gear desired, get ahold of them via PM, Email, or Phone.

Don't be a tight arse and buy knockoff gear. It isn't the same. It totally defeats the purpose of buying high quality audio components. I run a set of DLS components that I got from the Pauls Audio introductory BBQ, and couldn't be happier.

Re: Audio Gear Ripp Offs

Thats why we have quality retailers...because Pauls are good at what they do, there is every reason to purchase from someone who is a registered retailer for a product and has all the support knowledge to help you do that job right.
They also have many awards for custom installations and many repeat customers.
So when I buy, I will be buying from them!!.
