Re: thoughts/experiances on pioneer ts-sw841d subs

Easy. Split one RCA in to two and plug in to the two white inputs. Split the other and plug in to the red inputs.

For bridged output (from what I can see), one sub will come off the top set, positive on the left most terminal, negative on the third from left. Repeat for other sub on the bottom set.

... yes you need RCA splitters

Re: thoughts/experiances on pioneer ts-sw841d subs

yea I know how to....was just wondering if that was the best idea.....as I do have two preouts from the HU as well as a sub out.........maybe is better to use the two preouts instead ??? or no diff ??

and yea the whole bridging bit ive done all that before also.....

Re: thoughts/experiances on pioneer ts-sw841d subs

You could, but as these are front and rear preout, if you hit the fader button to control your speakers front to back, also you'll have one of your subs go louder or quieter than the other.

I should go and have a play with the HU but I havnt and probably wont untill I chuck in the amp, which for the record I didnt get time to do today as I got busy

Re: thoughts/experiances on pioneer ts-sw841d subs

wtf Steven? why can't he use one set of RCA's and set the input to 2 channel?

and Greg, chances are it won't fade with the rears, but will have its own completely separate controls

Hmm... yes. Damn these flash Pioneer amps. I'm sure if I got to pick up the amp I would have seen that

Sub out is generally non-fading. Set your amps filters to off or all pass so you can adjust the filters from the head unit.

Ideas stolen from an Oz forum:

That's in a 2001 Camry wagon. Seperate boxes built to fit in the sides there.

Mmm... Seas Lotus

Re: thoughts/experiances on pioneer ts-sw841d subs

Cut all the pieces at once.

Looks to be built from thin MDF, then the inside is bulked up with chopped strand mat. You can see a bracket below the sub, and one in the top right holding the box in.

Re: thoughts/experiances on pioneer ts-sw841d subs

ok so heres the new plan to accomadate for DVD viewing for both kids.....

I have found a damn cheap roof mount LCD so ill throw that in using ANOTHER HU

just got a no name DVD player like this

and will run it at the same time as my existing HU with a seperate pair of switched speakers in the rear doors....so the mrs can listen to the radio whilst the kids watch DVD.

however I can switch off those speakers when I turn the CD HU into AUX mode and listen/watch DVD.

as illustrated here......

Re: thoughts/experiances on pioneer ts-sw841d subs

Some problems you may run in to:

When listening to DVD, being able to match volume of the front and rear speakers

Subs will be playing the radio and will need to overpower the rear DVD speakers

The DVD output being suitable as input for the Panasonic unit

Heaps of room for rear speakers in the doors. Make up an MDF baffle for the big hole at the bottom front of the door. Cut a hole in the door card, fit a carpeted spacer to the door card to finish it off, then add the speaker grill to the spacer.

hmm yea was wondering how I was going to go about that bit......sounds really easy to do it when you put it like that......I was just considering fitting them behind the panel due to the lack of need for them to sound good.....they are only going to be in operation with the DVD player for the kids.....

Now the other thing whilst I have your attention mr Fr3ck

I scored some infinity fronts the other day with crossovers and tweeters....for $10

Anywho Whats the best thing to do with the tweeters ?? I dont like them in your earhole (if you remember back I never wanted them !!!) and I hate it when you jump in a car and theres a tweeter hanging off a speaker wire because they were put somewhere daft and got kicked/knocked off by some baboon.

would you still get some noise from them mounted kinda at the bottom of the dash up under the plastic panel ??

Maybe, just thought I'd bring it up.

Best position is where you like them. I've had them in the kicks as you suggest, but the sound doesn't come out from there too well. In the sail panels they are a bit high. Personally, on the door card immediately above the woofer, or on the sill panel immediately below the woofer.

Get IR headphones for the kids and you don`t need sound anywhere else........
They can hear better with them and you can use the stereo for what you want......

Re: DrRubbers NoOb questions and progress thread.....update !!

so after some pissing around with some tweeters etc I had I realised this was a piss in the wind (falling off etc) so back on to trademe I went and for $19 got a pair of tweeters to supply dialouge for the kiddies movies.
I wanted them out of reach but within earshot so heres what I did.

marking out rear upper head/kick panel

once tweeter is poked through the metal ring locates it firmly to the panel

getting ready to make hole in panel for tweeter

]

mmm, forgot to get a pic with the hole cut but anyway here is the tweeter mounted in the panel.

easy peasy........until I went to fit them to the car and realised I didnt quite have enough backspace

down to work to grab my drill and the bosses holesaw and all good trimmed out the panel steel like so

by the time I got to the second hole the "wood" holesaw had said STFU so the second cut was more like this

all good, some love with the hammer and sidecutters cleared that up.

the finished product

the whole system now works the way I had originally intended and I can still run my own DVD's into the AUX of the panasonic HU should I wish to do so.

no more stereo gear now.......well untill I get another car
