Weird stereo problem

Ok i have installed a headdeck, 2 speakers, sub and amp for a mate.

Everything seems go work fine.
But, theres this buzzer noise everytime music is playd or when the stereo is on.
This high pitched beeping noise is in tune with the engine revs up the same etc like the engine at the same time

Hope this make sense.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Weird stereo problem

is it like a very quiet supercharger winding up or something like that, iv had it with every decent headdeck, its the alternator surging the lines or something, never new how to stop it tho, sumthing like a capacitor inbetween the positive and negitive on the seakers

Re: Weird stereo problem

It's alternator whine. You need to check your battery, amp and HU earths. Make sure there is good contact onto exposed chassis metal.

Re: Weird stereo problem

Haha yup it whines like a supercharger, and louder it gets as the revs go up.

Thanks Detract, but what exactly should i check for on the battery and amp? earth connections?

I will be seeing him later on the week so hopefully i can fix it so he can pay me my materated chaching!!

And nope, it was aftermarket headunit with a build in DVD LCD screen.

Re: Weird stereo problem

First off, I would try running a new earth from the HU to a spot on chassis as close to the HU as possible. I had the same problem as you when I installed my HU. If that doesn't help make sure the amp earth has good clean contact with the chassis.

Re: Weird stereo problem

Do you have any power wires running by ignition sources? I know someone that ran their power cable along the strut brace which caused epic whine (not saying you're that silly)

Try various earthing locations also. Remember power always takes the path of least resistance!
