Need help with installation for headunit for CF4 Accord.

Hi all. This is my first time posting, hope you guys can help me. Recently I got a 98 Accord and I am wanting to change the headunit. But I can't figure out how to take it out yet. Hope someone here can guide me through with some instructions.

The following are a couple of pictures of where my current headunit is and all. (If you can annodate the picture with instructions it'd be gread =D). Just to make it clear, its the unit under the AC controls that I want to take out.

Thanks in advance for any help!!
Cheers!

firstly you must give me the centre console surrond as it is not woodgrain colour

2, lift up the little plastic ring thingy around the gearstick
3, i think from memory there are two screws you will find under there
4, should be another two screws towards the dash at the back of the console.
5, put key in ignition and mone gearstick into neutral
6 pull it out

if it dosnt come out then you may need to pull out the back half of the console... its been ages since i did mine and i dont have the car with me to check. the back half will come out by undoing two more screws which are hidden by the front seats.....move the seats as far foward as possible and you should be able to acess them.....if your still fucked.....i can check my car tonight when i get home 8)

*edit* or since your in auckland you could bring the car to me and ill show you !!!! and teach you everything i know about these cars.......which should take about a minute

if i remember correctly there may be screws behind the ash tray. *maybe* -it was a while back.

i had to take the ac unit out at the same time, in my torneo they were both screwed into the same metal frame

-from memory :?: :!: :!:

Thanks for the help so far guys..

To badcf4:
Sorry, but you cant have my non woodgrain panel. Haha. But cheers for the help.

To dee.eph:
Yeah, there are two screws under the ashtray. I had a look at it before, but wasn't exactly sure what it is holding together.

Will have another go at it sometime soon, probably later this week.
Cheers!

edit: So the console surround is not clipped on? And its actually glued on or something?

-but it'd still suck if you did manage it.

Hey all.

I am pretty busy this week, so I think I will only have time at the weekend to give it a go. I will update with how I did when I have done it (failure or sucess..lol).

Cheers.

edit: Don't think I have superhuman strength, but can't deny my good looks. 8)

Hey. Finished taking out the head unit.
Real easy.
1. Take out the 2 screws behind the ashtray.
2. Take out the plastic ring thingy around the gear shift.
3. Shift gear to neutral.
4. Unclip the whole console out.
5. 4 screws holding the AC and radio unit. Undo and pull out.
6. DONE.

Thanks you for the help guys.

But now I have another problem. The can't find the right wiring harness. Guess I'd need to wire it manually. -_-
Shall search the forum now....lol

I wired mine manually, when ever i asked about harnesses the stereo peoples responce left me less than confident of it working. Luckily the head unit i removed had the wire description on it so was pretty simple. Lukily mine didn't have satnav to have to sort out with it

To pnut: How does the satnav affect the wiring for the HU?? (lucky you that you got it sorted out easily  )

Can't seem to find anything specifically about the CF4.
Do you guys know if the wiring diagram of the American Accord is the same as the Japanese Accord?
I found a nice wiring diagram from installdr.

Got it all sorted now. Got 2 wiring harnesses. The one for the headunit and the one for the car. Just plug them in and it was done.

Here is a picture of it.

Not 100% sure how it all goes but mine had all the wiring and plugs for the satnav in the same loom as the factory head unit/minidisc and cd player so i was a bit worried about grabbing the wrong wire. Glad that the old unit had the wiring on it for mine, at least you could see what colours went up to the satnav.

Wasn't exactly a difficult wiring job though, i have had worse . . .

good work.

i don't have a sat nav, so mine head deck and ac unit are where the screen is.

and have a pacel box where yours are.

it looks like its easier to get to.
looks like yours is quite close to the stick.
