Cutting interior

I need to cut a hole in my door panel for my tweeters, what would be the correct tool to do this?

maybe you could try a hole saw, but you wouldnt want to have it ripping the vinyl like stuff on the door panels

A hole saw would be the best. use drill on slow speed and just cut straight through the vinal and door metal in one go.

If it is just the trim panel, I use a stanley knife carefully.

cut the vinyl with a crafte knife then hole saw the metal,

or if they are just the small tweeters that usually sit up top by the window just cut a X out of the vinyl for the cable and drill to holes to screw them in place

Use a hole saw from the opposite side of the vinyl trim.
When its almost through the vinyl use a craft knife.

Most trims if you look will have a guide hole for you to center the hole saw.

avoid flush mounting tweeters up high in your door trims. Its not a very good spot for them (sound wise). Much better up on the dash or down low on the kick or with the mid.

Yeah I've found that most 6-6.75 speakers have the same mounting holes, should fit together like lego.

Hi there, so i have a 93 teg and i also wanted to put in some new speakers in my front door to replace old stock speakers, so if i bought any speakers in the size between 6-6.75in they would fit in no trouble....no mods or pods required??
Cheers

6.75 would be pushing it I'd say.

6-6.5 should be fine, if it's deep cone then you might need some custom shit but otherwise should just fit in there.

why? wouldnt better sound flow occur with higher (ear height) mounted componentry?

In that case the tweeters are off-axis, i.e. at 90 degrees to you. In the dash would give the stage height, but also allow on-axis mounting.

Low mount - on axis tweeters can be done, it just requires a bit of planning to do it nicely.
