Location: Hamilton | Lowering law/wof etc.... Ive had my car lowered ever since ive had it and it flew through wof etc. But then had to buy a need bumper because ma old one got fuxd up... Anyways, ive heard the car cant be lower then 100mm from the ground? The new bumper i got on is bigger then my old bumper and brings it to around 95mm mark? wish i had tried it before buying n getting it fitted first... Anyways, is this true? n if so what are my options? Ive thought about adjustables, but was told i have to get them certed for wof??? how much to cert? |

Technically they can only fail you on structural parts of your car below 100mm, like sill seams, chassis parts, cross member, suspension parts becuase damging them on judder bars etc can compromise the road worthiness of you car. They cant fail you on oil sump, exhaust or cosmetic panels. However hey will try to fail you on them though so just be ready with the appropriate section of the LTSA warrant of fitness guide so you can tell them to firmly place their fail card into their own asses. |

My DC2 is lowered on Neuspeed Sport springs and the lowest part of the front sway bar sits below 100mm. I assume the front sway bar is classed as a suspension part as described above. Is there are way of raising my car so the front sway bar is above 100mm without needing to change the springs? I have 205/50/15 tires and they have about 1.5mm of tread. Would buying new tires raise the car? Would I be better getting 195/55/15 - would this size tire affect the ride height at all? I don't really want to change the springs but that is an option and I guess the other option would be to get the car certed but I don't want to pay for a cert for a set of lowered springs - the rest of my mods are fairly basic and don't require certification. | |

If it is a real issue, just make a spacer plate that sits between the tophat and the strut-tower part of the body, enough to space it up a bit so that it gives the front a bit more clearance. You don't want to raise it too much though... otherwise it'll give your car the reverse rake look, which would look stupid as fuck.

I have "get a wof's" here in the shed I got off ohsoslow, they are a plastic ring that clips around the shock when the car is jacked up and when you drop it down it sits on the plastic. The new BMW's that come into the country are jacked up on them so they dont bottom out on the loading ramps etc. You can do the same thing with old bump stops, it works a treat, it's just a pin int he butt having to put them in, then take them out again once you have the WOF. |

They will fail you for not being able get your brake test done. As for sway bar, I wouldnt be too worried if 95mm off ground. Below that is cutting it. |
