Thank you

Re: tyre size for 15"

205/50/15 ftw. Dunlop and Toyo are two manufacturers I can think of that make good 'entry level performance tyres' in this size, profile etc.

Good luck.

Re: tyre size for 15"

I've always preferred the feel of 195/55/15 tyre, they're a pretty common size which means lots of options and cheaper prices which is a nice bono!

*waits for some old schooler to flame me with the rule that bigger is always better *

Re: tyre size for 15"

/hijack

More info on these re001's please ?
hmm, perhaps there has been some past threads here, I will have a look tonight if I get some spare time ...

I like the DZ101's. And understand these may be a softer compound tyre than average and will no doubt offer better handling charactaristics over WANLI, linglongs, feds ($99 sh*ters ?) etc ? Driving conditions, tyre psi, camber definciency and in general negative forces etc aside (lol, although the fronts do wear near on evenly), I find I'm only getting 6 months out of these (in the front), rears are fine. I like the look of the sidewalls and the dry handling capability of the DZ101 but am looking at changing to or trying something different in the front. 205/50/15 limits my choices though and I really haven't looked seriously at any other tyres in 205/50/15 sizing, at all.

Been stuck in the mind set of FM901/DZ101's for too long, lulz.
Good tyre, but I guess they've let me down in the fast wear department (I understand these will wear fast but f**k me, they're wearing too quick IMO) aswell as wet weather conditions in some circumstances i.e when being pushed hard in the wet.

Looking to replace the fronts within the next 2 weeks.
I don't beleive in 'skimping out' when it comes to vehicle footwear, and refuse to run on either ub3r budget or near bald tyres on the car. Especially considering that car carries those dearest to me amongst an endless heap on unaware, don't look, don't care, or just plain rude drivers - on a daily basis.

Excuse me for the crap speil and blatant hijack teg-r ...
Pics of these re001's ? Price compared to DZ101 ? Discuss ?

Re: tyre size for 15"

from previous discussions, someone had found a shop that was doing a better price on the 001 tahn the dz101... which is crazy, the re001 offers to be a better tyre performance wise, they are as close to a semi slick as you will get in a street tyre status. assymetric as well tread pattern and is a quite a soft compound also, the wear rate wouldnt be any better than the dz101 I'd say. You'd have a lot more fun and be able to push the 001 harder in the dry than the dz101, and they aren't too bad in the wet either.

you can go a lot faster around pukekohe with re001's over dz101's becasue of the traction they give when warmed up, they give you a safer high speed cornering action than those of the dz101.

Re: tyre size for 15"

Stopped into two places after grabbing the kids from school and got some pricing on a pair of both the DZ101's and RE001's.

$170 each for the RE001's, is this good/reasonable ? Seems okay to me.
Seriously thinking of trying these out.

Re: tyre size for 15"

Yeah price includes fitting & balancing. I only need a pair though, and a new wheel alignment ofcourse damn it, that bumps the price up a little.

My 1st free plug ...
to tony's tyres upper hutt. Good to deal with + well priced RE001's obviously.
Beaurepairs ^uh were also good to deal with aswell, they offered to beat any price but the RE001 tyre seemed foreign to him ? lol

I went to beaurepairs 1st btw, and they actually offered me a good price on the DZ101's fitted & balanced also.

Re: tyre size for 15"

any news on the new egale F1, replacing the current GSD-3?

im my opinion the F1 was a way better tyre than the RE001 in performance but kms i assume the bridgestone owns. The new asymetric, with a better shoulder shoud increase the amout of ks from the goodyear and should be released in NZ soon, if not already. RRP unknown to me though.

this might be a hjack! meh.

Re: tyre size for 15"

I've had the RE001s on my EK for about 1 year now, a bit of camber wear. The sidewall is very strong. Haven't tested on the track.

For a 6.5" rim, 195/55 is a good fit, 7" = 205/55.

Most OEM rims from the EK are 6" in width, hence a 195/55 would be perfect!

Re: tyre size for 15"

I had F1's all round dont think ill get anything other than that for street in comparision to DZ101 anyway. Might try the RE001's but got the F1's were bang for buck at the time of purchase new, so were worth it. Not sure if i can get them that cheap again.

they are here but only in certan sizes sofar.....the sizes not yet caterd for are still coverd by the gsd3.

havnt seen/sold one yet so cant give any thoughts or customer feedback.
Ill post up the size range thats available in the next day or so.

The gsd3 sux balls in comparison to the re001 I think (was better wet tyre tho) but this new one is supposed to be a goodie so time will tell !!

Re: tyre size for 15"

My first impressions of the Re001's is not so good ...

But that's because the 'specialist' alignment guy (with infared alignment machine even) has really messed up my camber & toe settings. Bleh, the guy even decided to adjust my rear camber when replacing my front tyres, not cool. I made him revert it back as the rear tyres would've been cut to fuck ...

Will get my settings readjusted by this guy who adjusted my shit @ Tonys last time in town, then I'll get a better idea.
BTW, RE001 sidewall looks like arse when compared to the DZ101's IMO. Just plain ugly blimp sty in comparison ...
