Euro-r 300mm Brake conversion

Hi I want to upgrade the brakes on my CF4 torneo, I want to put 300mm rotors on the front, I have heard that the honda odyssey has these. How hard is it to do this conversion? Rough price. I can fit and bleed and do all the labour. Just unsure of what parts i will need. I assume the booster i have will work fine.

Is there any need to get this work certed?

EDIT: Ignore the stuff above, i now have some euro-r brakes and hubs that i am going to put in.

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

Well theres nothing wrong with my current setup, but i need new rotors anyway(might just need machining) so thought i might see how much work is involved with going with 300mm rotors. If it involves alot of fabrication and alot of $$ then i will stick with the 282's and get good pads and fluid.

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

i would just get some oem rotors and a good pad/fluid combo. You wont really gain much from the bigger rotor size to be honest.

i say invest in some pagids with some good 4/5.1 fluid

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

Do you have a rough price for oem rotors? is it best to get them through honda, or go 3rd party?

I still like the idea of the bigger rotors, but only if it isnt too much hastle, if i just got the front rotors and calipers from an oddysey would they simply bolt on to my hubs Im guessing i might have issues with offet?

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

bigger rotor's limit's you to the type of mags you can put on the car, IMO it wouldnt really make much difference, good pads and fluid should be just as good

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

Euro R brakes, as well as the cl9 accord euro, and the new oddysey all use 300mm. For parts, have a look on honda's website and put in my chasis code (cl1 1000361) and will give you prices for OEM euro r parts.

You may need new calipers? Will limit your mags to having to be 16" or bigger

But yea, I have mugen pads/300mm discs and they stop pretty dam good. Better than the 4pot 280mm I had on my silvia. So def a worthwhile upgrade if you can get parts

Oh yea I still have factory discs and pads if anyone is keen

Are you saying that i may be able to use 300mm rotors with factory calipers, Obviously this wont effect braking performance unless i change rotors as well(as effective braking radius would be unchanged). But would mean i could change parts in stages.

Edit: Just remembered Euro-r's are 5 stud ....

Yup euro R's are five stud, however, you can always get new calipers and redrill the new discs to four stud (very common on nissans, engineers can do it easily).

Yea I'm unsure on this one as I don't much much bout cf4 calipers. I would assume you would need new calipers, but they should be easy to find, as there are heaps of cars now with the 300mm brakes (surely some wreckers would have accord euro's and oddyses)

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

If odysseys are 4 stud then it might be easier to get the rotors of them.

Edit: Dam there 5 stud as well. Anyone know if there are factory 4 stud cars with 300mm rotors?

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

I have no idea if they will bolt up.

it will depend on the caliper and hub mounting, and rotor hat mounting to the hub.

I guess this is for looks? No real gain as 282mm with decent pads is a good setup.

They will weigh more, and cost you do to the swap if possible, but you will be bling'n

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

Euro R are def 300mm, Ive got the front knuckles, hubs and control arms if you want to just swap them. You will need to get calipers and rear hubs though.
NSX calipers also work with the Euro R brakes as well. Maybe talk to Nyemetz1 as he bought my calipers to swap out his NSX ones

Thanks for the offer, but then i would need new wheels. Would turn out to be an expensive swap, for not a huge difference. I would be keen if someone has some 300mm disks at 4x114.3 stud spacing tho(or knows what cars have them, if any).

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

Legends that have 300mm discs run 5 stud.

According to DBA, there are no honda's that run 300mm with 4 stud brakes. All are 5 stud.

You could always buy new 300mm blanks from dba and have them drilled 4x114.3

Any problems i may run in to ??

Re: 300mm Brake Upgrade

As the hubs were out of a burn out car, i will need to get new bearings. Can i Re-use the bearings that are allready in the car now? Will the bearings from the four stud hubs fit in the new five stud hubs.

Also are the rear bearings seperate to the hub, or do i have to buy new rear hubs?

And do i have to use the cl1 knuckles?? or are the cf4's the same?
