EF Shocks favour

If you have some Rear EF shocks lying around could you measure their length please?

I went to put some EF lowering springs into my shuttle but my rear shocks are far far to long and the spring is a long way off being captive.

The total length of my rear shock is 535mm, from the top to the middle of the mounting eye.

I have been told that EF shocks are 30mm shorter but the springs are about 70mm from being captive?

Any info would be appreciated.

Re: EF Shocks favour

OK just measured bog standard rear EF hatch shocks (with springs in)

From the top of the mounting flange (where the top hat sits on the rear body) to the centre of the eye is 485mm. From the very top of the shaft (where the allen key goes in) to the eye is 535mm. The installed length (spring in, shock at maximum) from the bottom of the tophat to the lowest point on the bottom spring seat is 260mm.

I'll try and put the measurements on a photo.

Thanks, mine seem to be the same length overall(mint were measured with no spring), I think the bit between the tophat and the spring seat is longer in mine by about 70mm. Will double check

Yeah it's hard to envisage sometimes, here's the photo confirming it so hope it works out OK. Cheers.

Re: EF Shocks favour

Just looking at that pic I can see that my bottom spring perch sits a lot lower on the shock.

Thanks for that

Re: EF Shocks favour

No probs, just worth noting that the lower spring perch, there are a few different lengths e.g DA Integras I think have a flat short seat so there's an inch or so difference there, it just taps off the shock to replace. Cheers.
