Re: camber + toe in? pg2

traction bars are good to adjust caster to keep camber while cornering

Re: camber + toe in? pg2

The traction bars can be used to adjust caster but not too much. If you dial too much in it causes binding against the arms and bushes etc and will just make the suspension really stiff at pivot points and just flog out the bushes.

You can however make very small adjustments and also make the caster equal on both sides which helps to create a balance (a car with perfect camber, toe and caster left to right feels awesome!). You can however get custom arms from that Aussie company called whiteline i think which isn't adjustable but just gives you .66 degree more and then you could perfect it with traction bars.

Re: camber + toe in? pg2

whiteline do a castor kit which has longer bolts and washers, which are used in the 2 piece front lower control arm, the more washers u use the more castor

Re: camber + toe in? pg2

You can swap the the upper 'A' arms over (left to right, right to left) and that will give you some more caster which will give you more negative camber when you turn in, but wont effect the camber when the wheels are straight.

I tried it and I noticed a bit more front end grip when cornering.

Re: camber + toe in? pg2

This is gonna sound REAL n00bish but why would you run different camber?
Wouldn't you want a flat wheel/tyre therefore getting the most grip or does it matter when you're cornering with tyre flex etc?

Re: camber + toe in? pg2

what happens when u corner? your car rolls to one side, and ong flat tires it makes it wear on the outside of the tire.

by running camber it allows the tires to be flat in the corners providing the most grip and contact patch

Re: camber + toe in? pg2

^^^^how is it youve done alot with your car and not know how to adjust toe or camber?

if a car still wears outside edges on the rear even with stiff suspension set up then a recommendation would be to increase toe in on the rear.

front camber : 2.5 degrees
front toe : 1.1mm
rear camber : 2.0 degrees
rear toe : -0.5mm

i found with toe out on front and toe in on rear the steering became lighter and more responsive, feeling like it is on rails. and a little tire tuck too.

However using the washer trick on the A arms isn't AS bad.

About toe to reduce outside edge wear, this also has an effect on wear in a straight line, and an effect on high speed stability, snap oversteer and all the rest.
So you gotta dial in whats best for you.

I think I run a simple 0 for toe all round, and -2.2 on all 4.
I wear the outside edge of the rears so maybe I should look into that a little more.

wow thats a bit aggressive on the camber and toe for a dd. i did:

front camber : 1.5 degrees
front toe : 0mm
rear camber : 0.5 degrees
rear toe : -0.5mm

but then again my car was droped 1.75" front and rear. 6kg/F & 4kg/R springs with a 21mm/F sway bar and 14mm/R sway bar. front, rear strut bars and a c-pillar bar. but hey it was a DD.

Re: camber-wheel aligning pg3

well i went for the alignment today and it is now set at:
camber front -4.4
camber rear -4
toe front +1.0mm
toe rear -0.6mm

then something really weird happened.. aprox 4 hours later i brought a new set of adjustable suspension...
