EK4 sway bar HELP

hey guys,

im having trouble fitting my new rear sway bar. i originally bought the car with no sway bar, so found a EK9 iem, but now have the problem of mounting it.

ive tryed the universal clamps from autolighn, but no luck, the clamp is too big, same thing with prelude clamps.

has anyone swaped swaybars in their EK4?

what other options do i have apart from getting a subframe brace kit?

cheers.

Re: EK4 sway bar HELP

The ek9 swaybar will be too big to run without subframe bracing and will cause tear out issues even on the ek4, if you don't want to spend the $$ on the ASR brace or Beaks kit, then you could get either any reputable fab/tuning shop or our own B16a luke to weld some supports up which would do pretty much the same thing without leaving a hole in your wallet..You might need ek9 endlinks, d bushes and locating bracket which are available through Honda NZ..

Re: EK4 sway bar HELP

yeah you pretty much need a asr brace or go custom... if you want ill do you a good price on the black one i have left as i need to get it off my hands.
The clamps dont come in the kit, you need to buy the ones for the actual swaybar (EK9) and then that bolts right onto the brace.

Re: EK4 sway bar HELP

thanks for the input guys. looks like i have two options, ither swap with duncan or get a brace. somethign to think about...

the car wont be going on the track so i dont mind getting a factory item. the car just feels really "loose" with nothing in there right now

Yeah you'd think vtir and sir would be the same but i've found a few things which are a bit different like the exhaust and cat length... But there are a few things here and there that mess you around a bit...

Re: EK4 sway bar HELP

O.T but NZDM models dont have cats in exhaust do they?
what pieces are needed to attach to an ek civic without a swaybar from standard?
the sway bar itself, endlinks? an aftermarket brace to fit or custom made brackets, along with bushes?

nah no luck man, they said i need customs brackets, which theyre happy to make after chagring atleast 2 hours labour, he said to have a think about it.

Kelsonmassif: they bracket sizes are different as the oem swaybar sizes are different by around 7 mm. the centres of the holes on the brackets are out about 8mm.

americ_ian: there was no sway bar when i bought the car.

offset: yeh just endlinks and clamps are needed. i already have some endlinks from ADL.

They've got a big bastard cat on them... Thats why the exhausts are heaps shorter...

Oh i wasnt aware of that i kinda thought/hoped i could just kinda swap one for the other, so the ek4 brackets and endlinks wont take a ek9 bar?

nope wont bolt straight in. not too sure about endlinks, but the brackets wont fit, unless ur running a aftermarket subframe brace.

if you have a friend who can fab custom bracket or modify oem bracket then its all good
