How much is too much?

I have a set of Toms NA-R 16x7 wheels, an it looks like after it was stolen the theives hit a few kerbs and have buckled/dented my rear left rim to such an extent that you can feel a very slight vibration at 100 kms.

If it is bent is there anyway to fix it? I am not sure of how bad the damage is. Ironically it just had a new tire put on it and the guy didnt notice a thing.

Also, who in Wellington/Greater Wellington can do such a repair? Or at least what kind of shop am I looking for? i.e. Engineers/Wheel/Tyre Shops etc etc.

Long story short, what can you repair, and what is irrepairable?

Re: How much is too much?

When I bought my new wheels they had a reasonably sizeable buckle in them which was only picked up when i was having new tyres put on. The tyre shop sent them away to be repaired and they were as good as new, couldn't even see where they had repaired it.
Go to a wheel/tyre shop and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

EDIT: from what they told me they can repair a buckled rim but not if the spoke is bent or if the whole wheel is twisted.

Cheers Dude, fingers crossed that they're buckled!

The wheel can still be reapired if its not twisted to bad, But if its only buckled then it should be quiet easily fixed. Most tyre shops should be able to send thme away for you or send you in the right direction. We have a specifc place called Wheel & Frame in Hamilton. If its not to bad it should be under $200 each wheel.

Send them up to Rimrite in Palmerston North. I've recommended them before and I'll continue to recommend them, Warren does top notch work at very reasonable pricing.

Thanks both of you. $200 though, fark thats more than I was expecting. May be a retarded question, but will Courier companies send wheels?

+1 for Rimrite.

Couriers will send wheels, but try taking them into somewhere like Fast Lane Tyres or MacLennan performance, they may have some they're sending up already you can put in with.
