Location: Auckland | DC5 Springs and Shocks advice Hey guys, I've been doing some research on lowering my DC5, read stickies and had a good hunt around the net today but would like some advice. From what I've gathered I'm after some King Springs and Koni shocks to suit. This is my first car I'm modifying so I don't know much about suspension setups. Basically my cars stock ride height is just plain rude and apparently sits with 150mm ground clearance. I'd like to lower it 50mm so it's legal and sits right. I'd prefer to keep the same ride comfort, but slightly stiffer, nothing really stiff as it's a daily driver and I do enjoy open road driving on some unforgiving roads. The only track use it'll see will be some fun days later on to just have a thrash around on the track. Any recommendations on what kind of setups to go? King springs and Koni shocks seem to be highly regarded from my current research. Where is the best place to get these from and what kind of price bracket should I expect? Cheers |

Location: Auckland | if you plan to hit the track then get better springs than kings.....nuespeed(sp), h&r, spoon or something reputable......kings/dobi and other cosmetic generic lowering springs arnt really the greatest... unless you only want looks koni or bilstein for shocks are great

Location: Auckland | Neuspeed is good. But maybe a bit bouncy for you. My mate has Neuspeed Race in his DC5 and he likes it. Height just sat underneath the guards on the factory 16 for the rear. Front was a bit higher though. |

Location: Auckland | Cheers for the input so far guys. I've done some more scouting on ClubRSX and it seems springs and shocks don't last particularly long. Can anyone shed some light on this? I don't really want to spend a hell of a lot, but I would rather spend a bit more on something that's going to last a long time and not done on the cheap. This is basically a daily driver, so not after anything serious. I'm after something that will drop it about 45-50mm from stock ride height but still be nice to drive all day long. Not really fussed about track performance, it would be cool to have a blast on the track with a few mates eventually but that's not really a priority. I've got plans to build a track car sometime in the next few years when I'm in full time employment, but for now just want to get rid of the 4x4 look ![]() Edit: It ain't an R either , that's later on down the track or track car build, also later on down the track! |
