Location: Tauranga | Offsets and handling Will increasing the front track relative the the rear increase or decrease understeer and overall handling charactistics? Turn in levels etc etc Rears have a 15x7 +40 and fronts having a 15x7 +35 so thats a total of 10mm wider front track. What would be the best setup? |

Location: Tauranga | I read that changing the offset from say a +45 on a 15x7 rim to a +20 for example could increase the scrub radius. That is the angle from the king pin pivot point to the centre line of the tyre. Effects are: Increased torque steer and bump steer Also it will reduce spring rate cause effectively you have a larger leaver acting on the suspension (weight further out) (dunno how true this is) Also wheels with larger offset can hurt the bearings etc with more loading further out. It also said double wish bone (a arm honda setup) is better for reducing toruqe steer cause the angle of the scrub radius is reduced. (So what about the DC5 etc) However I think all of this would only be noticed if say I went to a +20 offset or something from a +45 stock offset (which would be stupid anyways) Still no mention of increasing grip and reducing under steer from increasing track? |

Location: Auckland | My teg with fairly low offset rims has much more torque steer now, even though it has less power then before. It turns in ok but the steering seems to easy I am probably not used to it yet but am going to get a manual rack. Need to get rid of some the camber in the rear before I could comment about increased grip.. |

Location: Tauranga | saw this old post that is sorta related to tim putting big spacers on the EK. Cause i don't race my car much I noticed no differences with only a 10mm increased track on taupo circut. |
