aftermarket springs read here

mods could we get a sticky on this please as its a widely coverd topic

OK so starting off with brands, there are heaps of options when looking to purchase an aftermarket spring for you car.
I guess the first question to ask yourself is...."what purpose do I want these springs for??? "
Generaly most aftermarket springs are for cosmetic appeal over anything else...a "sport" spring as such.
Brands include.....
dobi
lovells
kings
jamex
pedders

and the list goes on, so if all you want to do is "lower" your car then these are all good options for this, they may all carry slightly different characteristics due to design and construction but all preform the same basic function.

Now If your looking to be a bit more serious then there are the likes of

Nuespeed
tannabe
tein

and others that are far more suitable for track use etc and alot of the time can describe the application and get spring rates to suit.

any more serious than that and the next step is coilovers.

now if you are looking to replace your factory springs with an aftermarket ones, then it would be highly reccomended that you also look at replacing your shock absorbers at the same time.....saves doing the job a second time further down the track  Plus your shock absorber is what controls your springs Oscillation which in turn stops you from boucing off the road.

There are heaps of big names in shock absorbers , have a search around as the internet loves you and has heaps of information so you can best choose what suits you (and your spring choice) best.....or of course speak to your local suspension expert.

Dont forget to have your wheel alignment done after preforming any suspension work on your car as it will be alterd and can cause tyre wear and also adverse driving characteristics .

Also its all fine and dandy to have the best of the best suspension but shitty tyres also play a huge part in handleing also, once again you get what you pay for........see your local tyre dealer or the interweb for more information on tyre options.

If you are having trouble with an aftermarket spring fitment, make sure the springs are the right way up and not back to front....this is the most common reason for a mucked up ride height, remember progression to the top (99% of the time) and look at the markings on the spring, it may have the letter F (front) or R (rear) sometimes they can even be left/right applications but not for any honda ive worked on as such.

also thought id add in this link to the nolethane site as it gives good information on alignment angles etc.........note this is a pdf so if you dont have adobe then it wont work

Thats all I can think of for now 8)

A mate posted me a link to an excellent site from a guy who used to work in the industry and had actually tested lots and lots of shocks on a dyno for US autocross racing.

He listed his top 5 - Bilstein and Koni being right up there, and a couple of others I know nothing about (US/Euro made I think), Ohlins might have been one, but 100% sure.

And he rated all Jap shocks, Tein etc, as crap.
