| EK Civic Suspension Query Im trying to sort out raising my sister's Civic. Its a '96 EK2 with a B16B in it, has super low kings in it at the mo with a buddy club kit and 14" wheels which makes it too low for her to drive around. Looking at raising it up so she can get around in it without leaving a trail of fibreglass behind her. So was going to put a set of standard '97 VIT-R springs in it which i was told will fit? Will this raise it much? A good option? But was thinking about the possibility of going for some of those Coilover Sleeves - are these an OK option? Will it have a decent ride height with these and also the possibility to wind it down a bit lower when necessary? Do you need a cert for them and where is a good place/price to get them for? thanks guys. |

yes of course the vtir springs will fit, and it'll rise it to around 3-4fingers space left between wheels and guard as it's a stock spring. as for coilover sleeves, no try to stay away from them, I'd recommand you rather find some cheap coilvoer suspension and do it properly, and yes any height adjustable suspension will need a cert. cert is around $360-400ish you just have to check up the lvvta site and check for the nearest lvvta certifier.

Location: Christchurch | I have suspension off an EK9 (Type R Civic) It'll fix up your ride height as its factory... and its a bit more firm than VTI... pm me with an offer if you want it. ![]()

Location: Wellington | Sounds like Ali's old EK2 with b16b transplant. The VTIR springs will fit as said above and will definitrly raise up the car. It's a good option to go with CTR springs as they will preform better than VTIR springs. If you are looking to install some coilover sleeves with a lot of driving the shocks will most likely give up and that would be costly. If you do go coilover sleeves get a decent shock too, but then again that could be costly - the best bet would be to find a fully adjustable coilover like Daiyama or D2 - these are fairly inexpensive these days and are a great entry-level coilover. Another option is purchasing bigger wheels along with the springs to give it a little more height.

Location: Wellington | Sell those wheels and put some 16's or 17's on, big wheels not my taste really but the bigger wheels will raise it and won't look too bad with buddy club kit. Sell the springs too and get some CTR ones. |

Location: Hastings | +1 vote for CTR springs. My Spoons are 10mm lower and firmer than CTRs and give a good ride height, but might be a bit too low for a BC kit, and probably a bit more than she'd be willing to spend.

Location: Wellington | Should be a decent 3-4 finger gaps, theres a black EK with a buddy club kit with 17s rolling around.. it look as if it has 3-4 finger gaps.

Location: Christchurch | Recently Ive found the same with King superlows in my EF Civic. Replaced the standard suspension with King superlows all round & it has totally boned it out in the front but the rear is a nice ride height tho. Im thinking about mixing & matching springs - keeping the SL Kings in the rear & going with some Jamex 40mm lowering springs in the front to even it up. I have 14" alloys on the EF & the front crossmember sits 65mm off the ground!! Its ridiculous & handles like crap - if you have a kit on your EK ground clearance will be even worse. I think the idea of the CTR suspension is great, & if after fitting that you think it's too high you prolly wont have any troubles selling it on again if you wanted to try something else. ![]()

Location: Palmerston North | Is the car even lowered? before you buy the same thing to put in! Just get some 15 inch or 16 inch wheels to raise it a bit

![]() Go with some 15" - 16" wheels... getting the adjustables would be pointless when you're still running 14" wheels. ![]()
