| It's hard to find anything in NZ as the adjustables originated from Japan.
I've had two sets, KYB Super Special for street and KYB Potenza Adjustables which were the same as the super specials but metallic white and were released for Bridgestone in Japan.
Try searching for them you wont find a thing.
They have four damper ajustments and adjust both damping and re-bound at the same time, they are not indepentently adjustable.
On the hardest settings they are @#*!king stiff, enough to crack my windscreen one night on the way back from Manfield. And another time enough to break a spoke on my RSB's in a pot hole.
The hardest setting is way too hard to use practically on the road but if you can put up with the savage ride, with good tyres you'll stick to the road like shit to a blanket.
The difference they made in my EF over stock was phenomonal, it's now a completely different car.
They are a shorter stroke than stock and the EF's currently still sitting legally with just over 100mm under the front crossmember but the springs are still very much captive. (not the original springs) the potenzas came with progressive rate lowering springs matched to the weight of the standard car.
If I was to put coil-over sleeves on them they'd wind right down stupid low I'm sure of it, but I wouldn't put those gay things any where near my car.
The downside of the KYB's is they are a sealed unit and when they shit themselves they're buggered. You cant re-build them but then again they're cheaper and seem to be very durable so it's up to you to decide whether they are worthwhile or not.
I wont be using them on my turbo project EF7, I'm going with Koni's but I still do highly recommend the KYB's they are excellent value for money and are a reputable brand name. |
