But neons are definitely a lot more intimidating than stickers. I'd recommend a set of red ones. | |

Location: Christchurch | Loose the bonnet so everyone can jizz over your mad poddy and intake man. It'll make racers scared of you, act as an insane weight reduction technique (and air scoop), and pull chicks for sure. Post up some pics . And yea, UnitedWeFall is right, put some neons in the engine bay as well.

Seriously, weight loss in a car isn't just a simple "remove 20kg and it'll have teh m4d VTEX au" solution. While every little bit helps, you need to remove a LOT of weight to make a significant gain in performance. last time I raced at Masterton I ran a 14.2 with no seats except my own. I then put the front passenger seat back in (maybe 12-15kg) and ran a 13.9. I'm sure with the full interior I'd still run 13.9 or better. As well as your air-con, you could also lose your sunroof, electric mirrors, stereo, spare wheel etc, and if you can lose 100kg or so from the car you'll really notice the difference. Generally changing the bonnet from stock to CF will make 2/3 of f-all difference to your times.

| Senior Member 5,000rpm (VTEC Power!) | ok team... obviously some of us still haven't caught on... It would appear, if you read back over CWS's posts... hes just taking the piss and isn't asking a serious question or remotely interested in a serious answer. this one is more a LOL than a Tech Help. If you lived in Dunedin, with winter coming... would YOU seriously consider removing a bonnet/hood from your car?? I would pay to see the damage from one night of "Below freezing" temps. Also... would you feel safe parking it anywhere, even for 5 mins while you grab a fat greazy goat entrail pie from the Quickie Mart? The kids would be like seagulls stripping off pipes and switching the HT leads around in no time. Atleast thats what I would have done back then...

Location: Auckland | prelude-CWS2 = OWNED! If you haven't figured out by now that we are taking the piss out of yah then you probably are dumb enough to drive round with no bonnet on. In hindsite I can't belive I actually tried to give good advice in this thread. Moving on.

| Member 700rpm (Idle) | yea ok,i said removing bonnet would be unpracticle, and you made it out as if i said im ripping into it! and it doesnt get below freezing level in a garage! positive comments were apreciated, saves me wasting money on carbon fibre and gave me new ideas, negatives were nothing more than giving me something to read when im bored, hardly offensive! id give them a pg13 |

| Senior Member 6,000rpm (Max Torque) | Removal of clear coat will decrease weight dramatically and while your at it you might aswell remove the paint as all that does is adds weight. You will be able to notice the increase in speed due to weight reduction but the car may not handle aswell in reverse. So be warned. |
