That's something I never understood - can someone explain why you'd remove Vtec?

Re: Toda vtec killer camshafts!!!

cause its not needed, all ur doing ir running the large vtec sized cam as the low cam and due to there being no vtec it also makes it the high cam.

Re: Toda vtec killer camshafts!!!

wouldnt that just be stupid getting getting rid of vtec cams? because with vtec you have the best of both worlds. Surely you would be smarter to just get cams off the same aggressive nature as the today ones that have a non vtec lobe so that your car atleast idles nice and then you could set the vtec low say at even 2000-3000 so its like the vtec killer cam..

the toda vtec killer cams are really designed for track/drag cars not really suitable for dd cars its basically like being on vtec not the whole time not removing it

yeap

The killers are designed for a car that does not see low-mid RPM.....they are designed for track/drag vehicles predominantly.

Why not just get vtec set to 1000rpm so that you can still idle fine.

You come onto the high cam too soon and have nothing until the cam comes on.

Even though the killer cams only work in high rpm you still have to make it there.

I bought a set of Kelford VTEC Eliminators off trademe a couple of weeks ago and should have then in a running motor in a few months.

I'm interested to see how they go.

u still have the heavy ass cams and the rocker arms in there, with the vtec killers u remove all that and reduce paracitic loss

Re: Toda vtec killer camshafts!!!

these stuff are definatly gud shit. they sound like a rotory and very aggresive somehow. i reakon its because the design of the hollow inside it soud like dat.
and you kan acutally tell people that u got a type r none vtec engine but the result will end up beating ta vtec haha!!! datz y they call it vtec killer, designed to beat vtec somehow!

Re: Toda vtec killer camshafts!!!

They call it vtec killer because it eliminintes the vtec lobe on the cam. Not because it beats vtecs... also its "can" not "kan"

Re: Toda vtec killer camshafts!!!

They don't "sound like a rotary" because they're hollow, they sound like that because the cam specs make the idle lumpy. The benefit of them is so you can pull out the lost motion assemblies and associated gubbins needed for VTEC, thereby reducing power loss and a little bit of weight. It basically turns your engine into a "regular" engine with super-lumpy cams, so to get the most out of them you really need to rev the bejebus out of them.

Re: Toda vtec killer camshafts!!!

All vtec killer cams are is just the vtec cam profiles on the two normal lobes. The camshafts themselves look like normal non-vtec cams but the two lobes are very aggressive. Definitely not street friendly.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is fucking hilarious.

And no, you cannot engage VTEC at 1000rpm using factory cams for two main reasons:

- there is not enough oil pressure
- in first gear you will not be meeting the speed requirement for VTEC

The VTEC solenoid and LMAs are disabled, and VTEC rocker arm removed - reducing the mass involved in the valvetrain, and increasing valvetrain efficiency/accuracy. It has nothing to do with killing VTECs - it is still "VTEC" essentially, just permanantly on what was "high cam".
