Christ Terrence, you don't have much luck with cars do you

Oh don't think that cheapies don't get nicked either (it's more of a brand and model thing) - cheapies can be as popular as performance cars.

Buy a Lada ... I don't actually think those get stolen at all ...

I reckon the safest car is probably the not too new/flash, not too old cars. Like a mid 90's Toyota Camry or Nissan Presea or something. Don't think many people will look twice at those cars.

What's the deal with personalised plates?
Can I get new plates made for me since I own the rights to it, right?

There aren't any cars I'm interested in right now. Newer cars are too 'sensible'.

I have 3rd party, fire and theft and glass break coverage.

I received a letter from the police this morning basically saying they have given up looking for the car ("suspended investigation"). The letter must have been sent out yesterday in order to get to me today. The car only went missing on Sunday.

When my wife's Del Sol got stolen we had an absolute nightmare trying to get a new set made, the plates company told us we needed to file a seperate police report on the stolen plates (even though they were on the stolen car!!)
We ended up talking to the CEO of Plates NZ and he got them made for us.

That's odd ... I've had 2 sets of personalised plates re- made (all via the official website I posted above - once because I had bent it taking it off the car (it was stuck on with bodykit tape and didn't come off easily) and the second time because it was stolen off the car)) and have only ever just filled out the boxes and paid via credit card and got the plates in the prescribed time limited - no questions asked.
