EOI NIMM Saturday Whitewater Rafting Trip

As promised we're looking at organising an activity / excursion for the Saturday of NIMM: A white water rafting trip.

Most of the places are based in the Tokaanu / Turangi area so it gives a nice opportunity for a cruise down to the rafting base.
The packages I'm looking at are for Grade 3 rapids which will be a lot of fun while not killing anyone at the same time - always a positive.

The approximate price will be $100. I'm after an indication of seriously keen people so I can negotiate a better price for. I've also asked her to confirm how many minimum per boat and at what time the trips leave.

Trips leave at 9am and 2pm - I would suggest we go for the 2pm to factor in Friday night hangovers.

Each raft fits 7 + a guide, and they can cater up to 56 people at a time. I don't think we'll crack that many people though.

All we need to take is togs and a towel. There's also an opportunity for a warm feed at the end of the trip too.

Well there's one boat full in theory... I think the optimal number would be between 14 and 21... That way it's multiple boats so we can check out the action between the boats.

I was actually suprised at how cheap rafting is considering it's a good 2 hours on the water.

Right gents, I've been in touch with the whitewater rafting people, it's going be $100 +/- $20. Just trying to get a couple more people interested as two boats will be a lot more fun because you get to watch another boat doing what you're doing etc.

Less than 3 weeks to go.

Are you guys all still interested in going even though the numbers aren't huge? I still think it will be a blast. Just need to get back to the rafting place with a final number to negotiate the price. Still approx $100.

Just contacted both companies I've been dealing with. Here's the deal:

9am Saturday $80
12pm Saturday $99 - just getting a minor detail confirmed.

The chances of anyone being sober and ready to go in Turangi are non-existant.

I will send a PM to everyone once I have a midday slot semi-confirmed.

Good stuff, the guy has emailed and said I have to pay a deposit - I've asked him how much this is. If it's low I'll wear it, if it's higher I'll split it across us guys.

Only things we have to take is swim wear for under the wetsuits, a towel and a sense of adventure!
