timing done ? car now at torque performance

hi guys,

cant find anything on where to get timing done. as i just got my cam belt change with adjustable cam gears and i noticed that the gears are tiny bit bigger. so i started the car ... and the idle was soo shit. like 500rpm and then i was like wtf turned off the car and tried the next day.

and now the car wont start. so i pulled the spark plugs out. and the worst smell off petrol went up my nose .

so im guessing the timing is wrong.

and need some help from you guys. where i can get it done ? or anybody taht can come to my house to give me a hand please

cheers

Re: where to get timing done ?

If the gears are set to 0 degrees then id say the belt is off by a tooth or two.

You say that the aftermarket gears are bigger, this may also be the problem, are you sure there the correct ones for your engine?

Re: where to get timing done ?

I'm sure the aftermarket gears won't be bigger... if they were his engine wouldn't have run at all in the first place as the cams would have gone out of sync and there'd have been some nasty valve bendage

Re: where to get timing done ?

Who changed the cambelt? maybe take it back to them to fix it...

If you can't get the cam timing right you shouldn't be changing a cambelt thats for sure.

a friends mate did it for me. and from reading from some sites it is said that the blox adjustable cam gears when set to 0 degrees, it isnt really 0 degrees

so i got AA to come to my house and ask them if they can tow it away to torque performance as known as Hondacare

the guy flippen cranks the car for like 4 mins straight ... is it bad for the car ?

anyways. its at torque performances now hopefully they dont charge me to much for correcting timing.

Re: timing done ? car now at torque performance

There still isn't enough adjustment in the gear to affect timing THAT much though. I'll guarantee most adjustable cam gears aren't zeroed correctly.

Didn't do the waterpump at the same time? Just wondering if you got the wrong one? there's two b series pumps one is 19 tooth and one is 21 I think, 21 being the b20 from memory (Alan?)

I personally think your mates probably done an asshat job with the belt to be honest

Didn't you check if the parts were the right ones before you put them on?

Re: timing done ? car now at torque performance

Its almost definatly timed wrong, probably only out by one tooth. It's best to check after you have wound the motor to tension the belt.

Re: timing done ? car now at torque performance

i would say i never EVER had a bill this big in my life.... well expect for my clutch and flywheel on my altezza

checked cam timing ( incorrect )
removed balancer ( no key fitter) so we had trouble removing the crank bolt
removed timing belt etc.
retimed engine and fitted the cam belt for correct engine rotation
tapped out crankshaft thread as this was damaged and fitted a new crank bolt
fitted a new balancer key
replaced 1 x cv boot as this had a hole in it.

parts

cv boot
crank key
crank bolt.

somebody wanna guess how much ? and how many hours spent finding the problem ?

Re: timing done ? car now at torque performance

$600 - $800.

Its' largely irrelevant anyway, I mean, are you glad to have it sorted and your car back? Or would you prefer still having a useless car and a fat wallet?
