The only important part of the first post is........ "We've been promised in-car video evidence of the run"

Until that happens, I'll reserve judgement, so many people claim times then you find out they're on cut slicks or something like that.....

I'll wait to see the in car footage, but either way according to the specs, that ZR1 should be pretty quick......... totally different cars, would really depend on what you're after in a car.

There really isn't replacement for displacement when it comes down to it...
I haven't heard of a Skyline/Supra that can push 2000+ HP
I'd rather have the GTR over the ZR1 but from the looks/sounds of things, the new NSX over either. That thing sounds soooo hot

Well they posted the video as promised and it shows it to be one hell of a car.

Wonder how it compares price wise to some of it's Japanese and European competition ?

The start and end point aren't in the same spot. I think there's a reason behind why they do that and quite a few cars are timed like that.

Even if they want to finish the lap there and turn into the pits there is no reason why they can't start the lap in the same place to make it a complete lap.

Still prefer the SR8 lap

None of the official timed laps are counted from the same point, they're all timed from the start line to the turn off point from the Nordschleife to the GP track.

Not strictly sure why they all time like that. I think it's because before it was a big thing for car makers others timed their laps like that so I suppose if others want to have something to compare to then it's the only way.

In reality, I'm with you, it's so close to being a complete lap, why not just complete it !!! Odd but true.

Re: This is new, an American Car that handles ! ZR1 Laps Nurburgring in 7 m 26

It's not timed like that for safety reasons (bit dangerous for cars to be going at full tits around the pit area) ... that is considered a full lap under official lap timing.

Re: This is new, an American Car that handles ! ZR1 Laps Nurburgring in 7 m 26

Dealer Gouging Reportedly Sends 2009 Corvette ZR1 To Amazingly Insane Price Of $413,000

The 2009 Corvette ZR1, GM's new mega-powered super car, will reportedly only be offered to the top 338 Chevy dealers nationwide. That effectively shuts out the other 3,594 from the chance of offering one to enthusiastic fans of the bowtied brand. We guess that explains the four-times-the-price gouging we're hearing about from potential customers. That's right, although the 638 HP 2009 ZR1 gets a price tag of $103,300 ($105,000 with the $1,700 gas guzzler tax) and Corvette engineers asking dealers to respect the MSRP, we've received at least one report from a reader of being told that despite his down payment 2 1/2 years ago, he'd have to put up between two and four times the MSRP to get one in his garage. If that number is accurate, the street price will be somewhere between $206,600 and $413,200 for Zee Really fast One. Full report from our tipster looking for recourse from someone — anyone — after the jump.
"I put a deposit down for the 2009 ZR1 about 2 1/2 years ago at "my" chevy dealer from whom I have bought many GM cars, including trucks, vettes. I have probably bought 15+ GM vehicles over the years. I was told 2 1/2 years ago that the price for this "iffy" car would be around the same ratio as the 5K overcharge I paid for my 2006 Z06.
I was called to order my ZR1 yesterday since I was #1 on the allocation list of this dealer's 4 allocations. I was told that by the way the price would be between 2-4 times the MSRP. Tadge Juechter, the Chief of Corvette Engineering, has urged GM ZR1 dealers to respect the MSRP. I am very upset with the greed and disregard for customer loyalty in a down economy. Is there any recourse?" We wish there were — although we'll be forwarding on your complaint to the good folks at Chevy to ask them their thoughts. At the very least it definitely shows a demand for the highest priced car in the General's storied history, doesn't it? (Hat tip to Roger!) [via Automotive News (sub. req.)]
