it was a blueish smoke, which tells me it's engine oil burning somewhere, better check your engine oil levels..lol

its the reason I wasnt racing - my brand new turbo was leaking oil out the compressor housing and causing it to smoke screen @ idle.

Upon returning said turbo, the seals are "fine"... :bs:

Yeah Oliver supplied the turbo to a shop, who then sold it to me.

Yup, had 4 of them now... wont ever buy another one after this experience, nor recommend them.

#1 Bad oil seals (replaced with #2)
#2 Good - Still going after 40,000km
#3 Good - but turbine ate some apex seals
#4 Bad oil seals - altho according to report from Alltech, they claim there is nothing wrong with the oil seals.

Alltech say possibly too much oil pressure; but this is happening at idle when oil pressure is only 30psi, and happens even with a 1mm restrictor in the feed line. So not sure how that could ever be too much pressure.............

haha yeah that was on stock twin turbos with bad oil seals this turbo smokescreens worse than that, just idling.

So Ive got the inspection sheet from Alltech... bear in mind this turbo has been idled in the driveway for 30 mins, and driven about 5km.
Seems to be a conflict in here, that the seals are leaking due to too much oil, but the bearings are scoured from not enough oil?

* All sealing surfaces show no signs of wear
* All piston rings are undamaged and fit correctly into ring grooves
* Bearings and bearing surfaces found to have signs of scouring
* Turbine shaft and turbine end bearings have heat discolouration.

Conclusion:
This evidence shows that the cause of the oil leak has not been caused by a failure within the turbocharger.

Re: Jtune Battle day ! !

Wow that makes no sense.

Oil seals leaking is a failure with the turbocharger.

If its leaking oil it will be getting hot giving discoloration and scouring.

never heard a good thing about Mater power, surprised you muck around with 4 of them D! or was it replacements.
