I'd have one of these over a Porsche any day, clocked the 'Ring MUCH faster than anything else, for $100k cheaper than it's nearest rival - now THAT's value for money

Would it matter what it looked like if you actually owned one? Can't see the car from the outside if you're driving, and most people would only see the back anyway

but what would you rather sit in, a Porsche or a Nissan
If you want a race car, fine, if you want a track car, fine, but if you want a daily?

hmmm maybe i should go find out what the inside of the GTR actually looks like...

Nissan, At least no one thinks you are compensating for something.

To me a Porsche screams "Homo".

You kinda missed the point...
I don't mean which would you rather be seen in, but which would you rather sit in. which will be nicer to look at, better put together, more luxurious etc

oh and for the record, i wouldn't pay money for either... i'd much rather a slowboat Aston. gives people longer to stare as you drive past

i think anyone that says they wouldnt want one is pulling themself... or can afford something better. i'd never pay that much or close to that or one but there isnt a new car out there that beats it for value for money

Alternatively, they can see a better use for $160K, like a car with 4 doors, or even a wagon. Or a large chunk of a house.

If I was going to buy one, I'd wait 3-4 years for the depreciation to do its damage, the aftermarket to get used to them and any factory recalls to be sorted out. Then I'd consider one, and probably go buy an RS4 instead. I don't need 353kW, 309kW is plenty for a street car for me*.

*I really, really hope one day someone can quote me saying that and say "But you said you didn't need 353kW and now you've got 400..."

Nope, but there's other makes than Honda around. Of course, I may never actually get to 400kW, but hope springs eternal.

Anyone paying $160,000 is getting completely and utterly gouged through the eyeballs.

I heard the GTR is coming out in NZ New for around $120,000. One we're looking at bringing in will be landing for just under $100,000 and there are several for that price too. Primo edition.

The mate of mine (who is probably picking up the black one tomorrow!) said they were going to be closer to the 200k mark when they do get here thru nissan

You can land em cheap here, but I wouldn't bet on getting it serviced anywhere real soon.

Nissan NZ are being really fussy with dealers who are even thinking of bringing them in........ Nissan NZ will be selling them for close to what the R34's were selling for I believe.... $ 135,000.

It's a fair whack of money as Matty says, but if you're in the market for a car at that price, it's a hell of a car for the money......

Depreciation is your friend as always............ so is the housing market if you pick the right places

See what a bargain !!!! http://www.autoinsider.co.uk/used/sh...TV208024105744

From a friend of mine:

Quote:
To put it simple...
you touch - no warranty
you mod - no warranty
you change oil at somewhere else than Nissan - no warranty
you thrash the nuts off it - no warranty (there is a data logger installed standard that takes ALL of your numbers and keeps it)

Absolutely no warranty for such an expensive car is not good news for would-be owners.

The issue with rom-tuning & the new GT-R is that apparently what is inside the ECU is "intelectual property" for Nissan. You "hack" it, and you make money out of it, you get sued (similar to hacking some sort of PC software, then selling it and making $$$ out of it)

Also the dreaded GPS navigation system is the key to getting the speed limitter off...but I'm very curious as to how it reacts overseas.
PLEASE "TEST" if the limiter goes or not @ NZ >owners

The aftermarket community is absolutely FURIOUS at Nissan's moves, but at the same time Nissan is a giant company compared to the aftermarket places, they have their right to be scared.

Nissans perspective this time is that the R35 is "already tuned", and it doesn't need any more mods added to it.

Compared to the BNR34 yea Nissan has extensively done a heck of a job, but completely shutting out the aftermarket community is I think the wrong way of doing it...

oh and they decided to ship it roll-on-roll-off rather than by container...
I would also say the cost price is more 120-130k landed.

There are ways around that..... besides, the modded, carbon-bodied Sport350 I went for a spin in at the weekend certainly hauled ass (you're right though, in standard form, the gearbox is an achilles heel).

Well over 400bhp, well under 1300kg, torque for that big continent that Johannesburg is located in.

Stunning though the R35 GTR (in terms of performance, value for money and road-presence) is it just doesn't light my fire, I'd MUCH rather have an NA2 NSX-R over one any day of the week because I know that in years to come, one will be rare and sought after and another will be a lot more common and cheap

The same goes for the contents of any ECU from any car manufacturer... its called copyright. You'd have to reverse engineer it and modify it far enough away from the original to make it usable legally... or you could just pay for the rights.. few mil down the drain i guess.

Depreciation is a weird thing,

Dad is looking at buying a new Hilux, It is cheaper for him to buy a brand new one than second hand
Sure the GST has something to do with it but still......

New GTR? Still, no thanks. Would rather an BNR34 if I was to buy a nissan.
