What would be faster

Just wondering if a DC2 standard (apart from suspension) 99 ITR would be faster than a standard 307kw HSV clubby? might seem like a silly question but i have had a challenge and wouldnt mind having an excuse to go for a blat round pukeeee!

Straight line? Could be pretty close, assuming you know how to launch your ITR well, but I'd give it to the HSV by a carlength. Around the track? Not too sure, but I would think the ITR should be able to get around the track a little better than the HSV.

What's been done to the HSV? Could make a difference...

What are other people's thoughts?

I'd say an HSV should be superior around Puke. It's a horsepower track, and being 307kw it'l be a VE based thing and it'l have good brakes and acceptable handling.

Just trying to find a standing 1/4 mile figure....

HSV would be slightly quicker assuming both partys can drive on a race track

I reckon all things being equal, the HSV would hold honours around Pukekohe, assuming of course it's not Auto. As has been said, at Pukekohe, basically all that matters is horsepower, and given the VE handles and stops quite well for a battleship, then I'd give it to the VE. Obviously, the ITR with decent power and a whole lot of money spent on making it handle/stop even bettre than stock would tip the balance the Honda's way.

Hmmm im not doubting your average ITR but i've been in a couple of them and they certainly knock the wind out of you. They are extremely quick for a Holden. Definitely not your average commy. 307kw compared to 140ish? regardless of weight thats a hell of a lot of power, and have you seen their brakes 8O . But if the guy doesn't know how to drive and you have some experience around a track and know your car you could give him a run for his money.

hsv youd have the itr down the back straight and front straight providing he is a good driver and can get power down fast without wheels spin or sliding the itr will probably have him around the sweeper and the left to right hand abd possibly hair pin and over the hill

No comparison.

Its not even a fair competition. WE all know that the ITR is far superior to anything. The only thing that comes close to keeping up is a fully loaded R34 GTR.

to be honest I'd pick the ITR on the track, why?

$10 on the HSV being auto

that would probably work in the hsv's advantage, fighting a heavy biartch like that round taupo might need two hands on the wheel at all times

I out-ran a supercharged V8 clubby of some sort around Taupo, and he was on full slicks. Dunno how it would fare at Puke though - he caught up FAST on the back straight...

depends on driving ability and skill (a huge factor). provided both can drive, I would say the ITR would give it a good battle through the corners, the HSV is very heavy and stock suspension will have some descent body roll through the corners etc.

ITR would be slower top end though, so high speed i.e the back straight, the HSV will haul. I know a certain ITR and driver that could probably dick the 307KW holden around Puke. Puke is definitely not all about HP!.

Same here, but its after that 1/4 mile where they start to get up and moving, the only thing that lets them down is getting off the line.

For Pukekohe HSV > ITR since the straights are too long and horsepower will win out. However if you guys race at Taupo then it might be a different story.

I have been out at puke with a guy in an hsv VZ clubby with the 6l motor. He was running a standard car apart from brake pads. He was monstering me around there. He was able to brake extremly late going into the hairpin thanks to those huge hsv brakes. Damn fast cars.

HSV = win, hands down. ITR driver will be having more fun, HSV driver will be doing more praying. The VE chassis is much more advanced than the VT-VZ chassis.
