Best freight company for dealing with wheels

Im selling some alloys on trademe and I usually only sell locally so I'm not to wise on the whole deal of shipping them. Some guy asked for the price of posting them up to Rotorua from Christchurch but im just unsure on what freight company to go with. The two i've got so far are mainfreight and courier

Has anyone had any good/bad experiences sending mags or other heavy items with certain companies?

Mainfreight.

I've used them sent over 100ish wheels over the country. They usually send overnight too!

usually you can wrap up 2 wheels and send them as 2 packages with some of that inductrial wrap around them. Worked fine for me when i sold my old alloys

Yeah if they are 15"s you can send them as two NZpost parcel posts, a heck of a lot cheaper than mainfreight

I just sent some mags to chch, was like $56 for the two parcels via NZpost, or about $115 via mainfreight

I've been there nearly 6 years - have to plug the business where possible.

Perhaps you could spell it out for us?

Oh and Mainfreight charged me $95 to freight 4 wheels from their Sockburn yard to the Mt Maunganui yard on a pallet. Took 4 working days.

Possibly, but ive been told by more than one freight company that goods travelling South Island > North Island are charged at a higher rate than those North Island > South Island.....

I used mainfreight to send the wheels from my Type R to someone and they were awesome.

I just put a chunk of cardboard in between the wheels, stacked them up and then used some packing film to wrap them up...........could have taped them or anything.

Just make sure you pack em well.

I guess you didn't have an account with them? If you don't have an account with them and pay cash it will most likely be depot to depot, not insured and cost over twice as much. Same with Fliways - was under $50 (exc GST) to get some 17" wheels brought up from Christchurch to Auckland - on account.

I've sent a few sets of wheels around the North Island and have used Mainfreight. Excellent overnight service and wheels weren't damaged.
(I just taped some cardboard across the "front" of the rim).
