Was getting pretty average times, think 1.58 a few times.

greg (badcf4) was doing about 2.12-2.15mins's in the domani

Tim (timmiblc) was doing 2.00mins in his CTR with my 100kg frame in the car, would have been 2-4 seconds quicker with out me in it

thats all off the incar footage

You wait till they have that car going good again, it will shock you all. At the end of last season it was down to a 1.38 on the A1 track! They are just having a few issues with the new setup. That car is so fast its sceary.

A1 track is a lot quicker though isn't it? The Twin-hairpin complex MUST add 7-8 seconds to a lap.... next time I run the A1 config I'll be able to tell you. I've got full datalogging from all my runs on track 4 and will do again in December.

As Graham said, my quickest time was 1:50.40 (2 laps) on the datalogger with another couple in the high 1:50s... rest were in the 1:51 bracket with a few higher when I was in traffic or busy making a hash of it behind the wheel.... still a way off from having the driving skill to challenge that SS2000 car though, that thing was insane!

I was generally only pushing hard on the last two laps of each session. Was my first ever trackday on semi-slicks and was wanting to make sure I had plenty of heat into them before pushing them at all..... #1 priority as always was to come home with the car in one piece and not dead..... hey well 1 out of 2 ain't bad!

words can not adequately describe just how demonic that car sounds, going full hilt down the front straight. as mentioned, it's insane...

aaarh...

testament to the good work of the driver and speedfactor no less...

My previous best on track 4 was 1.55, timed at the end of last year's track day.

I felt the car was quicker this year, but needs some more testing and practice to really make it move. I was going quicker in the last session (Jase was in the first or second), but didn't have anyone or anything timing, so meh

I think someone timed me at 1.52, I was pretty happy with how the car was going considering the lack of power and ridiculously tall gearing!

Last year in the ITR I think I was lapping 1:53
In Garrys EG i'd estimate 1:56 - 1:57 just has no balls

I think the fast A1 corner takes off about 4 seconds correct?
Think I got timed around 1:50 at the last NIMM
Probably 1:54 when I had a blast at lunch time.

Looking at datalogigng plots I'd say it's at least 7... the time you lose in braking and going through the twin hairpin is quite substantial, given that the A1 corner can be taken basically flat out.

really! that heaps of difference! that means you could be doing 1:43's if doing 1:50!
(I wish I could take that corner flat out)
3rd gear with some lift off an massive ripple cutting

As I said, next time I get a run out on the track, I'll have a chat to them and see if I can do a run around the A1GP corner to plot my speed through there with the PerformanceBox... will be able to tell you EXACTLY how much tme it takes. Given that you're talking nearly a 2-minute lap, and you're replacing 1 faaast corner with two very slow corners (2nd and 3rd slowest corners on the lap), then it's easy to see how you could add 7 seconds or more to the laptime, especially when you take into account the extra braking and acceleration needed... it slows you down from halfway through the sweeping left hander all the way to the braking zone for the corner leading onto the back straight.

As I understand it, they GENERALLY don't let trackdays (for road cars) run Turn 9 (A1GP format). Basically the speed through there is too high. Taupo is a very very safe track, there's not really anywhere you could have a huge accident in a road-legal speed car, although that turn would be an exception... an overcorrection could spear you off at pretty high speed and despite the gravel trap you could end up in the wall pretty fast. Having said that, it's still pretty safe compared to Pukekohe!

Turn #9 is a challenge and it's by far the fastest on the track (and really the only "fast" corner there, the rest being medium/slow corners... but I bet most trackdays will be running "Track 4" spec with the twin-hairpin complex instead.

IIRC the reason we got to run on A1GP last year was because they were trying to get as many cars over it as possible to help bed-in the new bitumen? Remember, Turn #9 was never meant to exist, the track was just going to exist in the format we ran at NIMM, but this complex was far too tight for the A1GP cars to realistically run.

Even if I did complete enough laps to try timing myself I dont think Zana would have been capable of working a stopwatch. She was gripping the seat so hard she left permanent dents in the seat. No shit they are still there.
