| Junior Member 700rpm (Idle) | Valet Services. Heyas, I don't really come on car forums very often, but I have a car related question that I wouldn't mind some feedback on. I get hassled at times about having a rather filthy car and to be honest I do feel bad about not giving it the attention it deserves (So I washed it last weekend ).. It is a rather nice car.But I'm lazy and I don't have the time to give it a proper wash and polish, but thought if I could get it done professionally I'll see if I can manage the upkeep a little better after that.. So.. The point of all the babble was; Is there any car valet places out there that you would reccomend? I've done a forum search and I couldn't find any previous suggestions. Of course I could look them up in the phone book, but personal recommendations would be better. Thanks guys and girls ![]() |

I figured valet was best as there are some tar spots that are bugging me (yes, the person that nevers washes her car).. But if it's going to be clean it needs to sparkle! ![]() | |

Location: Howick | Yeah, I'd recommend taking it to the place that badcf4 said, apparantly it's rather good. Otherwise, go to repco and buy turtle wax with the car wax in it, it gives a good shine and all you have to do is wash it normally. |

Location: Christchurch | If you are lazy, just use a wash n' wax type of wash. I do mine once or twice a week, just with that turtlewax stuff. Shampoo wash, and a wax, all in one. Takes all of 10mins to wash, then just chamois it dry. Also, grab some CRC "wet look" tyre shine spray - piece of piss, and effective. Use an old brush for your rims, use the wash as well, and a rag to dry them off. Valet services are very expensive, and IMO you just use them once a year or so for a total clean-up, and maintain the look during the year by being a motivated owner .As for the inside. Vacuum it, clean it with interior cleaner, and armourall the plastics.

Location: Upper Hutt | for the dash, there is a simoniz stuff from repco, its awesome, and doesnt shine too hard out, so less glare for glass, CRC glass cleaner, in a big blue can, its awesome too that Liquid ICE stuff is pretty good I hear, after you use a good wash and dry it first. and wet look tyre stuff is good, and some good mag whel cleaners are about aswell. buy the stuff, use it monthly, and wash it weekly in between. usually you spend about $80-$120 on a good prefessional Valet, which is money wasted if you can do it yourself, you will find the odd coin or CD too, that the Valet guys wont tell you were there  sam

| Don't go to a valet, they're dodgy I reckon...Just the type of people that do the job (I was one of them) For the money you spend, you could kit yourself out with an extensive cleaning kit that will make it look mint - plus you can do it over and over. It's easiest with a waterblaster so try borrow one, or hit washworld then drive home to finish the job. Chamois is essential. I don't know how many people I've seen wash their car - and not dry it! Watermarks are a bitch to get off. Silicone on the tyres makes a car look 100% better 8)

Location: Christchurch | For my engine bay.... a slightly damp rag, and a can of CRC! CRC is great for cleaning metal. Then just get a little tyre shine spray and do the hoses!

| Team NZH: Mod 7,000rpm (Peak Power) | I use Air NZ Koru Club at the airport. They pick the car up from my work and it's $16 for wash, wax, chamois dry, vaccum, and window clean - they do a fantastic job  If they crash it they buy it - simple. Plus my ITR is a bucket of shit compared to the Rolls and Bentleys they do ![]()

| Junior Member 700rpm (Idle) | Thanks for the suggestions for cleaning products everyone. When I got the car I was taken shopping for some Meguiars? stuff which was supposed to be pretty good, just the basics though, I don't think I have polish. Quote:
