97 US Wagon Accord Specs Please

Hey everyone,

I'm having trouble confirming what motor a 97 US Accord Wagon would have. It is a 2.2vtec. But how do I find out if its H22A or F22B?

I'm trying to find out as my mate plans on turboing his one and i need to order the kit.

Is the H22A & F22B exhaust manifold the same??

Thanks

If it's SiR it's an H22 - see engine pic

Otherwise it's an f22b. - see engine pic

if its sohc and says vtec then it may be an f22 or an h23
of its dohc and says vtec then its an h22a

or maybe sum crazy f20 swap
or h23VTEC swap

but i doubt it

There are two 2.2 Vtec engines in the various Accord Wagon Models in that era just to be slightly confusing, however a quick glance at the motor will tell you what it is.

One a DOHC H22a making all the normal Honda DOHC Vtec fun
(although the car is pretty dam heavy and mated to a pretty "ordinary" 4 speed automatic in standard SiR models is hardly a speed demon, but hey I like mine and take it to the track till I get an ITR)

The other a SOHC Vtec, I have only driven one and wasn't particulary impressed, a fine car I'm sure but not the DOHC Vtec sound/feel etc that got me into Hondas in the first place.

Looking at that photo unless the headlamps or motor have been changed it doesn't look like an SiR model as they have nice black headlamp enclosures not that plastic chrome stuff.

on a positive note a h22a manual conversion will be simple as hell bout the same price as a turbo kit and you will probably be happier with the results in the long run
