soo im thinking of purchasing a 96 DC2 Teg..

Hey guys.

im interested in a 96 DC2 integra, done about 120 kms with a few things i need opinions on!.
the teg has minor mods such as a pod, h/d clutch, extractors and a 2 1/2'' exhaust. also had a LSD box.
so i went to check it out today, exterior very straight, however i started it up and saw white smoke comming out of the exhaust, i thought the car could have been cold, but the owner had just brought the car home from work. what are your guys thoughts on this? i checked the oil and it seems to be a bit low.
Also i took the car for a test drive, and at high revs, the gear stick seems to shake quite a lot. this happens even when im changing down a gear. no crunches what so ever. could this be a gear box problem?
im thinking of getting the car checked out, but i thought id see your guys opinions first

any help with the above will be much appreciated as im quite keen on this car!

Cheers
Neel

the shaking gear stick could maybe be the engine mounts or the gear linkage bushes? probly wouldnt be anything major tho.

if it is that, would it come up in a AA report? also would it be expensive to repair?

it should, depending on who you get it through, and who it is inspected by, but if they are very 'tight assed' and 'thorough' then you should get everything you want to know about it .. If not and it craps out on you, you have a bit of a problem to bounce on, as many people have had cars inspected and had things ticked as 'fine' but then it craps out, the inspection service should deal with it, but as with all things, "conditions apply"

hey man, my gearstick shakes as well when changing down but thats bcoz my shortshifter is hitting the resonator a little bit. Might be the same for that teg.

so what about the white smoke thats blowing out of the exhaust? is that because there was a low level of oil in the car?

Don't worry about white smoke coming out the exhaust.. take it for a 30minute drive and it will be gone.

All cars will do this and its not exactly warm this winter!

white smoke is normally ok - just condensation in the exhaust system etc, if the smoke was blue you would be burning oil and if its brown the car is running rich (over fueling)

as said above when its hot the white smoke should clear up
