From someone who's been to one of Chelles's trackdays, it's the PERFECT way to get into trackaying. You won't be put with a group of real fast/experienced guys, you'll be out with people of a similar level of performance and you'll have plenty of time to find your feet and get into it

Once you've done one you won't be able to stop

Thanks for that Esprit

I attempt to treat track virgins and 'old hands' with all fairness. Allowing each the space want to learn and play

SLOTEG: if you are need I can email you the entry and track days so you can have a read before you commit yourself.

But yes, I will gentle with you and if you need any direction there are plenty of experienced 'old hands' there to give advice on corning dynamics and braking techniques. I'm more than happy to give pointers to anyone who is willing to listen Of course sometimes guys don't like taking driving instruction from a girl

Hi Guys
Due to the huge demand I'm extending the amount of entrants to 42.
Will be running 7 groups of 6. There wont be an extension on this, so if you're keen I now have 11 spots free, so email me today for an entry from.

Thanks

Hi all.

After an in-depth read of the track rules and much thought, I'm allowing passengers on the day. Your passenger will need overalls and helmet to be allowed in the car. They will need to sign the indemnity waiver form before getting in the car. If you have a roll cage you must have at least a four point harness, no standard seat belts allowed. And the passenger must be 16 years old or over.

The passenger must not distract the driver at any time whilst on the track. If this is abused in anyway that compromises safety of you or other drivers this privilege will be removed.

Thanks
Chelles

Apparently over $3k for the day. It depends if it's a week day or weekend day as weekends are a lot more expensive. (as I've found out for this track day)

95ITR: Yup, the track rules don't say that you can't have a passenger; it just says you must have at least a four point harness for your passenger if you have a roll cage. I'm still not too keen take a passenger myself, however others are welcome.

entries and info emailed

I have had a few people ask for clarification on the passenger thing and what we’ll be doing if it’s raining.

Cars with both roll cages and no roll cage can take passengers.
Does your car have a roll cage? Well in that case you must have a minimum of a four point harness for your passenger to be strapped into. No standard belt system to be used.

You don’t have a roll cage? You can have a passenger and can constrain them with either a 4 or 5 point harness or a normal seat belt system.

Rain? If it’s raining the day will go ahead. What is the point of hiding when it rains? We drive to work, school, friends etc on rainy day so why not on the track where it’s safer. It will great experience for you all to learn better car control in the wet.

The day is now full. If you have an entry form and are still keen then contact me today to confirm you intention and I’ll let you know what the situation is.
Thanks
Chelles

Will anyone be taking video footage of the day? I'd be keen to see some coverage.

I'm racing my bike at Taupo this weekend (30 April) and the 7th of May. Can't wait. I'm doing the small circuit too, so I'll let you know if there's any secrets.

Here's a map of the track so you can start learning:

This is an awesome site for finding info on tracks all over the world.

There are two guys doing video for the weekend 'officially' so I'm sure there will be some for people to see.

I've raced the revised version of the small (old) track; it's a little smoother than it was. The sweeper's (double apex) exit has changed as the camber of the last part of the corner has been flattened out. The surface of the back straight is a little rough just after the sweeper. The kink at the end of the straight comes a little quicker as the straight is a smidge shorter now. The corner is still quick and all going well you shouldn't be dropping under 100km through there. The hairpin is still the same as it was, as is the S-bends. In general it's still a great little track and I love to drive it. Wouldn't be able to count the number of race laps (let alone 'play' laps) I’ve done round there now, would certainly be in the 1000's now.

If anyone wants pointers of lines to take together with cornering dynamics on the day let me know. There are a few of us there who have been doing this for years and would be more than happy to pass on the experience.

I may bring the Lotus along, but only to spectate.... can't afford to do anything else with it at the moment..... if I'm there on the day I'll be more than happy to stand in a marshalling post and wave a flag about a bit

Yes, as long as you observe all the track safety rules.

Esprit: I'd love some help if you turn up. It's been hard finding helpers this time around.
On that note: If you are keen to put in a couple of hours to help please come and see me on the day and I'll hook you up with a task - thanks
